Time to make my mark in the world 🎓 #GoBeach17 (at Walter Pyramid LBSU)

I remember first coming to CSULB. I remember SOAR (orientation). Kinda nervous. Kinda confused. I started off majoring in Pre-Nursing. My grandma recommended it because nursing is good money, apparently. I remember the SOLAR advisors telling us we'll probably not make it into the CSULB Nursing Program. They gave us the option to opt out. I was thinking about it and was going to go into some other medical program. But I did not. My first semester was smooth. I really enjoyed my Greek Mythology and Religious Studies classes. My math class wasn't even about math. It was an easy A. Then the next semester, I had to take a science class. I did not enjoy it. Then I wanted to get out of Pre-Nursing. I find science interesting, but it did not really sync in with me. When I heard of "Political Science," I was disgusted by the term. I did not want to take the intro class for my GE. But my friend said I had to. So I did. And I ended up loving it. I found political science fascinating and wanted to major in it. Then I majored in it. But then I had to choose a concentration: Law, Politics and Policy, Political Theory, or Global Politics. I was disgusted by the term "Political Theory." I thought it would be boring. I first chose Global Politics. Interesting. But I changed to Law, Politics, and Policy. And then I took a political theory course. Gosh it was fascinating! Not boring at all! And my love for politics grew. I also ended up taking more religious studies courses and minored in religious studies. It would go well with my political science background because of Christianity being applied all over the political spectrum. I really enjoyed my 5 years at CSULB. I had Bible Study there. I had some amazing food there. I even enjoyed my bike rides around the campus. I'm glad this school isn't some crazy liberal/"progressive" school with "extreme" professors like one would find at UC Berkeley or an Ivy League University. A lot of the political science professors I had were fair. Sure, there were some professors who made their own value judgements, but they still showed respect towards a different viewpoint. And they did not force their beliefs on any student. Thanks. #GoBeach17 (at California State University, Long Beach)
