Happiness is split into 4 different types of happiness. Them being laetus, felix, beatitudo, and sublime beatitudo. Laetus is happiness in a thing. For example, I eat the hamburger and it makes me feel good. This kind of happiness is based on something external to the self, is short-lived and,on reflection, we do not consider that it is all there is to human happiness.Felix is happiness of comparative advantages.” I have more of this than X.” This kind of happiness results in terms of how we measure up to others. It is very unstable and can lead to unhappiness and sense of unworthiness. Beatitudo is the happiness that comes from seeing the good in others and doing the good for others. We can not always be at this happiness level because we cannot be someone else’s everything. Beatitudo and felix are opposite in a sense because one cannot be in competition in someone with someone else and doing good for and seeing the good in them. Sublime Beatitudo encompasses a reach for fullness and perfection of happiness. The fullness of goodness. beauty, truth, and love. This goal for fullness is pursued through the other happinesses, but having beatitudo beat out felix at the approach of the transcendentals of this category.
