I'm fairly indifferent to Asa but the more I think about it the more I think I actively resent Anthony. He's nothing like Crowley and too much like the starmaker. Him being that way really drives home the idea, to me, that Crowley could never be happy or loved as he is, that he was always "better" or "more worthy" as an angel, and that just!!!!!!! IT MAKES ME SO ANGRY!!!!!!!!
And I know he's not Crowley, even David acknowledges he's not Crowley, but he's the finale's Crowley-adjacent character, and yet there's not a trace of our serpent in him. I hate the idea that a damaged, traumatized, bitter character cannot be loved, cannot be happy. It may not have been the intended message, but it's a message that came across anyway, at least to me, and it's so upsetting.
