“To combat the growing threat of climate change, we must transition away from dirty fossil fuels and towards a future powered by clean, renewable energy. Clean energy protects the climate and public health, saves consumers money, and supports state economies. In addition to using clean electricity, we need changes to transportation, how we heat our homes and buildings, and how we adapt and become more resilient to changing weather patterns. Planning ahead will help ensure that the transition to a clean energy system is safe, reliable, and fair for all consumers, and leaves no workers behind.”

"I was born and raised in Nevada. My future and the future of my state is at risk due to climate change. From wildfire and drought to excessive heat and smog, we're feeling the effects today and it's only going to get worse if we don't take bold action now. I contributed personally by installing solar panels on my home, and I was proud to vote to increase Nevada's renewable portfolio standard to 30% by 2030. We're on track to hit this goal, and with our clean energy resources I believe we can get to 100% by 2050. In fact, we have the opportunity to go past that, powering our neighbors and boosting our local economy. And we can do it with a focus on equity for communities that have often been hurt the most by climate pollution and left behind in the clean energy transformation to this point. I'm committed to achieving this vision at the Nevada Legislature."

“As a physicist, I've spent my entire professional life working on the development of fusion energy. Making sure that we have public policies in place that, as a state and as a country, get us to 100% renewable energy is one of the reasons I was motivated to run for public office. Now, as a member of the General Assembly, I am committed to moving New Jersey forward as a national leader in clean energy legislation. Rapidly increasing the production of solar, wind, and hopefully one day fusion energy, along with electrifying the transportation sector and increasing our energy efficiency measures are critically important to address the climate crisis. I am inspired by the activism of so many and optimistic that we are on the path to a clean energy future.”

"I am committed to the project of moving towards a 100% clean, renewable energy future because I think it is the moral and just decision. We have to work together -- all of our communities -- to save the Earth and we should work towards building a present and future that encourages investments in clean, renewable energy. But we need to make sure that this future lifts all of our communities, especially those in our cities and who are low and moderate income and represent minority communities. This transition needs to reduce the air pollution that hurts our urban communities and it needs to provide a direct transition to economic opportunity and jobs for our Black and Brown in this growing field. The transition to a clean, renewable energy future can help us build a more just world."

With NJPIRG’s 100% Clean Renewable Energy, we will work with our local campus administrators, faculty, and student leaders, as well as with community leaders to adequately layout a plan transitioning Rutgers to 100% clean renewable energy. Since Rutgers is the largest university system in the state, and one of the largest nationally, this transition has the potential to reshape how universities across the nation are thinking about clean renewable energy and the communities in which they are located. The time to shift away from fossil fuels to 100% clean renewable energy is now. The future of the world is reliant on the decisions made today. There must be immediate action, and our youth are going to make sure it happens.”

With every year that passes, our continued dependence on dirty energy becomes increasingly unacceptable. Using technology we have today, we can power every aspect of our lives by harnessing the energy of the sun, the power of the wind and the warmth of the earth. These renewable sources are abundant, inexhaustible and regenerative. The choice is clear: We need to ditch dirty energy and repower society with 100% renewable energy and the sooner we do the better it will be."
