To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
Steve Prefontaine
Day 54
Today's run wasn't nearly as bad as I originally thought it would be, despite getting up at 4:45 this morning to drive to Oshawa to work the Durham 1/4 Marathon race and going to see the premiere of Reid Coolsaet's Road to London documentary at the Westdale Theatre... I crushed a hilly 5km in 23:47, ran it with my buddy who was having a tough run so I left him in the dust, finished my run strong and ran back to walk him in, its never fun having a shitty run.
Ran in my LunarGlide +2s, felt good, a little sloppy today, but was wearing thinner socks so that makes sense.
I enjoyed the Road to London documentary this afternoon, for anyone who doesn't know Reid, he is a hometown boy (Hamilton, Ontario) and won the record last September of the fastest marathon run by a Canadian on Canadian soil (Scotia Bank Toronto Waterfront Marathon). He qualified for the olympics there and was followed around during his training for Beijing including a trip to Kenya and Arizona for training camps. The actual documentary was not well shot, but the people interviewed in the movie as well as it being about Reid, made it awesome!
On to 55. Yup.
The man, the legend: Prefontaine.
