What's new with JR Polyphony?
Ok Polyphony fans.Â
How yall doing? So you may be wondering, what's up with Polyphony? They haven't posted about any new gigs in a while. Well, if you're not thinking that, I am. So, here's the scoop on Polyphony.
Things have been sorta slow on this side for a while now. Since our last gig, we have been getting ready and preparing for bigger and better things, and also some solo things. Yours truly (Juli) is currently working on music for her junior recital at her school. For my recital, I am playing three pieces. But, more detail on that in another posting. Along with that, Bekah is still volunteering at GNOYO with Juli. It's time for another GNOYO concert, so practices are about to get really intense. But, hey! We're professionals, and that's what we do.Â
We're working on some new music to add to our own repertoire, so it'll be nice.
Well, there's a short update on what's good with us. What about you?
Please keep comments clean, relevant, and fab.
Jammed out,
J
Do the YAA today!
Okay, so that's a bit cheesy. But hey, maybe a little bit cute?
I want to tell you a bit about my music high life. Lol, yeah right. Either way, you may be saying where's the 'M' for in 'YAA'. But nope! There's no 'M'. YAA is the acronym for Young Artists Academy. It's a branch off GNOYO that offers private lessons to kids for about 8 weeks, and then at the end of the 8 weeks, there's a recital for all the participants to show what they've been working on. In these lessons, you and your teacher work on scales, techniques, and other musical techniques to help you improve. You work with trained professionals, of course, and most of the teachers are in the LPO (Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra). Hence, they are highly trained and certified musicians. I don't know if I would have gotten as far as I have without my wonderful teacher, Jeanne Jaubert, and this program. What do I want others to know from this shout-out? There are sooooooooo many awesome music opportunities out there, and we need to take advantage of them. Arts fundings are some of the first to get cut when budget cuts are made, and music is so important. Not only is music a fundamental part of everyday life, but it also helps to heal a broken soul (not to be too overly dramatic). I feel that programs like YAA really helps the youths of society, and it adds culture and character building to young children. Music needs to be protected, and the chance to study under such wonderful musicians is a privilege and an honor. Plus, programs like these that help others learn and embrace music really do need funding. If you can, please donate to YAA and help give music to children.Â
So come on and do the YAA today!
