I honestly think it's the best characterization of Connor's emotional distress and trauma that I've ever read and I'm being 100% serious. Healing is never a stable process and having bad days is part of the journey, and I'm so glad to see your writing reflect every aspect of that. I'm especially enjoying the realistic elements of Connor's relationship with everyone: it's so nice seing him open up to Hank, Markus, Nines and Josh, but I like that he has a hard time with other characters and that not everything is going smoothly with the others (such as North and Simon, for example). It's incredible how much love I can feel into your writing; it only shows that you care about Connor a lot and you've absolutely nailed his personality. Every chapter is an absolute pleasure to read!

I also like how you depicted Markus. I feel like he's not an easy character to write because, in the games, he feels like this perfect pacifist leader that always keeps a cool head and doesn't make mistakes, but the way you chose to show his flaws and how he deals with grief and guilt is incredibly fascinating. Again, you've completely nailed his personality, and his interactions with Connor feel so natural that I can hear their voices inside my head!

Nines is also super interesting: I don't know what I was expecting exactly, but I feel like the fandom likes to depict him as more of a heartless "machine", so it was very refreshing to see his sibling dynamic evolve with Connor throughout the story! I've grown to care so much for him that I always get excited when he's present in a chapter. You've taken what little information the game gives us about the RK900 and made something unique and beautiful with it: that's how talented you are!

I feel like there's a lot of other good things I want to say about your story, but I'll comment the rest on ao3 directly! I still have a lot left to read thankfully (I really don't want this adventure to end), but I wanted to thank you for sharing this fic with us readers. I can't even find the right words to tell you how much I'm enjoying it, so thank you for taking the time to write it and post it on ao3.

Hi y’all!!! My name’s Yasi and I’m a first time fanfic writer and professional heartbreaker/traumatizer of my characters. Welcome to my blog, home to my multi-book Hogwarts Legacy saga, Give Me Love, starring my original character Elysia Ashcombe.

As you can tell, I’m a huge Potterhead and have been sucked deep into the spiral of Hogwarts Legacy game fandom. I had the hobby of writing small things here and there just for myself for quite a few years but never confident enough to actually post/publish anything. I actually made Elysia originally for a fun little love triangle smut one-shot between her Sebastian and Ominis. However, let’s just say things… escalated.

I GOT TOO EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO HER! — and before I knew it, I’d planned out not just her entire fifth year, but sixth, seventh, and post-graduation too. Storyboards, character arcs, deep-dive research… what started as a one-shot turned into a full-on passion project.

It doesn’t help that (like most HL players) I have a list of personal grievances the size of the Restricted Section. Things that made me sit there like “excuse me???” Such as:

That plot line ➡️ I liked the bones of it but they left half the skeleton in another room. It felt like it ghosted half the stakes and you don’t realize what’s at risk until the last minute, and Ranrok never bothers to explain his endgame.

“Ancient Magic” being… whatever the hell it was. (Exposition? In this economy?) Like legit no clue what it is or how to use it other than “it makes things go boom!” 🤷🏻‍♀️

NO. ROMANCE. OPTION!!! 😤 (Be so serious right now! How da hell you make Sebastian Sallow or Ominis Gaunt and not give romance option?!)

The complete lack of empathy and emotional depth of a puddle in scenes that deserved full-on heartbreak (yes, I’m looking at you, Scriptorium scene — iykyk 🙄).

And finally, just an Olympic-level waste of potential. 🥇

So, naturally, I fixed it by creating my own OC and turning the whole thing into a slow-burn, morally messy, emotionally devastating rewrite — because if they won’t give me the drama, I WILL TAKE MATTERS INTO MY OWN HANDS AND TRAUMATIZE MYSELF!!! (And anyone else who wants to join me along the way and read my fic.😜)

Oh darling...oh sweetheart...Buckle up buttercup cause question 21 one is A WILD ride 😅. I'll tackle that first cause it relates to the rest:

21. Exactly how complicated is their love life?

So listen. It’s not as though Elysia asked to be stuck in the middle of a love triangle and risk driving a wedge between two lifelong best friends/brothers, she’s got far too many problems of her own. She just sort of existed, and it happened. Now she’s in love with them both and doesn’t know what to do.

Truth be told, she did crush on Sebastian Sallow first (his dashing looks, his cocky grin...who wouldn't??) and her heart melted over how fiercely he loved Anne and wanted to save her. She wasn’t trying to seduce him when she joined his search for a cure (she genuinely wanted to help), but Sebastian fell for her, and fell hard. That tension simmered through all of fifth year until, well… he Avada’d his uncle, and things fell apart. Wracked with guilt, Sebastian began to push her away. And Elysia, in turn, heaped the blame on herself absolutely CONVINCED she’d failed him as a friend, that she hadn’t saved him from that path and that she didn't deserve him.

As for Ominis, well..he's always been there for her. Like an immovable, unshakable rock! She can’t deny the attraction has always been there but he did have his downsides too because he was quick to judge and blunt af. Ominis fell for her in fifth year as well, but he kept his distance too actually. First, out of respect for Sebastian (who, for lack of a better term, had “called dibs”), and second, because Elysia is Muggle-born. Ominis, a Gaunt and still underage, feared what his family might do if they discovered he cared for her, let alone that he loved her.

By sixth year, things shift. Sebastian has withdrawn, Elysia is lonely and heartbroken, and Ominis can’t hide his feelings any longer. Her initial attraction for Ominis grows more because he gets closer to her and she falls hard, too.

Only problem is… SEBASTIAN IS A JEALOUS MF! He comes storming back into her life, unwilling to let go. And like any normal sane human girl, her feelings for Sebastian also come BARRELING back!

And now she’s trapped in the middle, being pushed to choose (because these jealous idiots will not, under any circumstances, entertain the idea of a throuple, no matter how hard I tried to write them that way). She’s torn, wracked with guilt, blaming herself for their feelings, and for not realizing sooner the effect she had on them. (Oblivious AF to affection, always. Girl doesn't believe she's capable or deserving of being loved and missed ALL the signs.)

On top of that? She’s still battling the weight of ancient magic, the Goblin rebellion, and grief for the people she lost. The whole thing is a complete clusterfuck. One that’ll take many chapters to unravel, so… stay tuned 😉

Poor girl....BUT HOT DAYUM I'M JEALOUS! Imagine all that attention from two hawt Slytherin boys 🤣

18. What’s their “I love you” without words? What's their love language?

For Elysia, it’s absolutely primarily acts of service. That’s her whole thing. She takes everyone else’s burdens on like they’re her own, and if she can’t help, she spirals into guilt. So her “I love you” is usually something practical: fixing, fetching, protecting, doing. Add in quality time too. She’s a Hufflepuff through and through. She doesn’t need grand gestures, she just needs to be there with you, no matter how heavy or quiet the moment is.

For Sebastian, it’s her throwing herself into his crusade to save Anne and quietly trying to stop him from spiralling, even when he pushes her away. For Ominis, it’s her standing beside him as he tries to save Sebastian from himself, and reminding Ominis not to lose his compassion in the process.

ALL WHILE FOR BOTH OF THEM listening to their endless bitching and whingeing and sulking and brooding, never walking away, always showing up. Even while swallowing down her own problems so they don’t have to carry them too.

8. Oops, your OC just downed an entire bottle of Firewhisky. What disaster unfolds?

Well actually… something like that already happened 👀 not with Firewhisky, but Garreth Weasley’s Very Special Sparkly Concoction — and it was utter chaos. In Elysia's story, Garreth is her best friend Poppy's boyfriend so suffice to say they're close. She only wanted something to calm her anxiety and headaches… but what Garreth gave her did a tiny bit more than she bargained for. It went something like this:

Elysia wandered the corridors after curfew, potion-drunk and serenading the walls and suits of armour

She tried to kiss a suit of armour, christened him “Sir Reginald of the Eternal Vigil” (her “noblest ex”), and attempted to undo his trousers.

She was found by and clung to Sebastian and Ominis like a romance heroine, called one “fire and sin” and the other her “storm-voiced statue."

They brought her (with difficulty) to her common room and handed her off to Poppy where she proposed to both of them, AT THE SAME TIME! Pretty efficient, really.

She did recover by morning but did not remember a thing. Suffice to say no one let her forget the entire thing...or Sir Reginald. Natty and Poppy worked hand in hand with Sebastian and Ominis to thoroughly embarrass her at breakfast with planning the double wedding and making Reggie jealous.

As for Garreth… let’s just say he got what was coming to him. He’ll be waiting a good long while for his eyebrows to grow back.

Okay so, I had someone recently leave me a really good comment pointing out that my author’s notes on Ao3/Wattpad sounded a bit confusing. They asked if I used AI writing since I had written “all media used is AI-generated and further edited by myself.” Which like, fair. Completely valid.

Just to clarify, my writing is 100% my own. Always has been. 💛 What I meant was strictly visual media (like cover art, edits, and TikTok promo stuff). Sometimes I use AI-generated visuals, like for my cover art, which then I edit it more after myself. Or I use Pinterest finds, like for my TikTok edit, and try to track down original creators or if I really can't I have a whole folder of where I found each one and am always willing to share my sources if someone requests.

I’ve now gone ahead and updated all my notes across Ao3 and Wattpad to read:

“All visual media (pictures and such) used is either AI-generated and further edited by me, or sourced from Pinterest. I do my best to credit original creators where possible, and I’m happy to provide specific credits upon request via DM.”

I also added links to my Tumblr + TikTok so everything is neat and consistent.

I’m still kinda new to actually posting fic out in the wild, so I know I’m going to trip up here and there. If you ever notice me wording something weird, forgetting a credit, or just doing something that doesn’t sit quite right, please let me know! I promise I won’t take it badly and honestly, I’d much rather hear about it so I can fix things than leave them confusing. This is all a learning curve for me, and the only way I’ll get better at it is if people point these things out. So seriously, don’t be shy about sending a comment or DM if you catch me slipping.
