Official Gabi Drip Master B Recipe
I recently bought the Gabi Drip Master B, and while researching it prior to purchase, I couldn't find much information about the recommended method.
So I thought I'd share the official instructions and recipe provided in the box.
Put 20g of coffee ground fine (200-500μm, between 6 and 17 on the Comandante C40) inside the dripper
Place Master B on top of the dripper, and pour 40-50mL of hot water (between 85°C and 93°C) in the inner circle
Wait 20-25 seconds until all the water has gone through the inner circle
Pour 250mL of water on Master B to cover inner and outer circles
Wait 2:30 until all the water goes through the bed of coffee.
The official recipe uses a 1:15 ratio, but personally, I've found that the recipe from The Coffee Chronicler (below) which uses a more traditional 1:16 ratio gives better results.
Another interesting recipe I found is a Tricolate-like brew using the Gabi with an AeroPress, as presented by An Otter Coffee.
With this pourover accessory, you can grind finer, and because of the lower agitation, get more clarity and sweetness, while still hitting your target brewtime.
NOTE: When I first tried the Gabi, I’ve noticed that most holes weren’t dripping. They were not plugged, but they seemed too tiny to let water drip. I looked at the reviews online and found someone with the same problem. I tried his trick of using a pin needle to enlarge the holes just enough to let the water drip.
