Cleo had started to avoid Bennie after the awkward texts and even more awkward night where she’d got drunk. It was fair to say she hadn’t done that since. The weeks had passed by slowly and on the most part, other than her family, she’d only had Elsa for company. There had been one thing on Cleo’s mind that had been bugging her. A bracelet that she’d left in the flat she’d shared with Bennie, one that was important to her. She’d had it ever since she was born.
Today she’d gained the courage to go round and ask if it was there. But of course, that included awkward small talk. “I got new hair, do you like it?” questioned Cleo, gesturing to her new blonde highlights as she stood on the doorstep. She never thought she’d ever ditch the dark hair, but things had changed and it had made her feel a little better. The woman tried to avoid looking Bennie directly, fearing she’d cry or worse, fall straight back in love again. “Ariel said it looks gay. But...that’s what I am so, hey. Anyway, I don’t know if hair can look gay but-” Cleo pushed her lips together and looked down to the ground. “I um, I think I left something important here.”
