This has been fla##ed twice now, so let’s try again!
I’ve been on Tumblr since 2009, so for a long time this was home for me, and the location of most of my growth, comfort, and happiness through a devastating dark patch of my life. I’ve now reached a point where I’m thankful for how this community has supported me, but over these nine years I’ve developed enough strength, self love, and tenacity that I can say goodbye without too much sadness. It’s bittersweet but I know I can create again; build a new sanctuary in my home, my heart, or wherever I see fit.
I cherish everyone I’ve met here, from the ephemeral internet crushes to the lasting faraway kinships, from the radical people i’ve met in real life to the shy babes i know i never will, from the people who have held me in my grief to those who reached out to me for counsel, to the avid supporters who always made feel loved to the occasional haters who kept me humble and self-reflective.
Looking back, it’s funny to think about the different stages of me on here. There was my old blog (which current people running this deleted), where I was a loving but suffering little angel-gremlin of a human being who was obsessed with psychedelic daydreams, teaching people how to safely take a trip down the rabbit hole, bohemian and hippie aesthetics, overwhelming amounts of patterns and colors, Buddhist and Hindu ideologies, and luxuriating in my own sadness. I love her and she meant well, but she was naive and had a lot of growing to do.
Then there was moon-witch-mountain, which was really an art installation about the painful but beautiful struggle of healing and growing after wallowing in the pits of a mental health collapse (which current people running this also deleted). Working on that blog actually saved me from ending myself, and I loved using it as a resource for other people struggling with life-ending thoughts, as well as a reminder of where I came from and the work it takes to rebuild yourself when you’re at your lowest. After that point, I made a promise to never let myself get that far again, cultivated a lot of forced self love that eventually blossomed into real self love, developed a lot of techniques to keep myself in balance, and shared those with anyone who would listen.
I went through so many changes during those three years that I needed to have a new blog with no following, so I created cosmicforestpeople, which is the old name for this blog. The idea was to create this imaginary, whimsical cult of glitter-soaked, dirt worshipping magical babes who grew their own food, soaked the house with oil and incense, covered each other in jewels, and ate mushrooms in the desert under a wild moon. It was a fantasy of mine but a lot of people seemed to connect to it at the time, and I would often get messages about how to join the cult (sorry, the cult is in our hearts!). I loved the connections I made with people during that time and I would post a lot of gorgeous art by outsider and untrained artists, as well as my own face, poetry, cosmic ramblings, and pictures of fruit, flowers, and tea. Sometime around there I named the blog Glittertomb and it stuck, because it was the best way to describe my love for both the innocent but devilish, the beautiful but bizarre, the sweet but macabre.
Then I was somewhat inactive for about a year because I got hit with a hard dose of reality where I was homeless with a broken heart right at the beginning of my post-graduation “adulthood”. When I came back around 2014, that very immediate and personal connection I had with the site was gone (I think a lot of us were growing up and getting hit hard by reality). So I’ve walked alongside my blog these past four years, watering it, tending to the roses, pulling up old weeds, and laying new plots as my tastes developed, but I’m just the gardener, my blog and I were no longer one. In a way, I’ve already mourned the death of tumblr as it was for me then, but have continued to use it to befriend soft souls and collect images of Japanese culture, plant-filled interiors, neon roses, witchy babes of all shades and body types, shimmering wonderlands, anime aesthetics, flower-decorated foods, sorrowful and uplifting quotes, and pastel rainbows in this glittering grave of a blog. It is my personal sanctuary, and if anyone has related to it, that makes my heart full and happy. But the walls are closing in and it’s time to build a new sanctuary.
Forgive me for always taking a long, rambling route to get to the point, but here it is. I’m not going to delete my blog (current idiots will likely end up doing that for me), but I will be just a whisper starting on the 17th because I post a lot of “inappropriate” things such as sapphic art, semi-not-clothed art, straight up not-straight art, and straight up girl-parts art. If you enjoy the content you find here, not-safe-at-work or otherwise, I have just created a Glittertomb account on pillowfort.io. There are glitches aplenty and it costs to get in, but I can tell already that this is going to be a beautiful community. I need a week to get myself established there, but I look forward to this new opportunity to build a shrine to the things I love. In the meantime, if you enjoy the strange creature that tends to this blog, I recently started posting on instagram again as princesslaue. I mostly post floral patterns, vegetarian cuisine, pastel flowers, mushroom hunting, fairy trinkets, and my hair.
Up until then, let us raise our glasses and spam our way into oblivion! Best wishes, krishna kisses, and many blisses to you!
Yours forever, Princess Laue of the glimmering bogwaters
