“Will you marry me?”
Cordelia whipped her head around to the humanoid dragon, staring down at her with a hopeful gaze. A brow arched at his question. “You… understand my feelings about marriage, right?”
A frown reached his lips, curving downwards. “You love me, don’t you? Isn’t that enough for you-“
“Cale, I’m only eighteen. Please. I do love you- I don’t want to get married now. I don’t want to worry about that. I have hundreds of years ahead of me.” She furrowed her brows together. “Just... I want to wait. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to be with you.”
“But then someone might take you, then what am I supposed to do? You won’t let me eat anyone.” The lord knitted his brows together, nearly mirroring her expression.
She snorted, placing a hand on his arm. “Please, like anyone would come near me. If they’re super threatening, then go right ahead and eat them.”
“Good.” He only nodded in understanding briefly. “Okay, but can I get you something so everyone knows you’re mine?”
“As long as it’s not a hickey that will last a week, again.”
Weeks later, Cale came back to her with an item in hand. She finished up the paperwork, spinning the chair to relax for a few moments. The ocean breeze filtered into the office through the open window. Inhaling, she breathed out with a pleasant sigh. She greeted the dragon humanoid with a smile.
“Hey, you’ve been out all day. It’s nice to see you for once today.” The young Queen pushed off her chair, softly padding to the lord. He lifted her up into an embrace, kissing her nose. She emitted a giggle, which was normally hard to get out of her. She returned it with a chaste kiss on his lips.
Cale set her down, grasping one of her wrists. “I want to give you this.” She glanced up at him questionably as he got more serious. He pulled the bracelet out, attaching it delicately. The cool bracelet touched her skin, shuddering slightly. It was adorned with small sea shells and blue gemstones in an alternating pattern.
“I’m not the one for jewelry, but t-thank you, Cale.” Cordelia toyed with the bracelet, turning it along her wrist. “It’s beautiful. Where did you get it? How did you get it?” As much as he had lenience with prices in the Ocean Kingdom, it didn’t stand with all the kingdoms of Ooo.
“A few of your friends helped, honestly. I wanted it to be special and… so people know you’re mine.”
This excuse got her to laugh. It dimmed to a chuckle, pulling him into another embrace. “You’re a dork lord. Thank you. No one has done this much for me.” She gazed up at him, lovingly. Cale grinned, pulling her up and spinning her around.
“So… when do you want to get married?”
“Not soon- that’s for sure.” She caressed his cheeks, pressing her lips to his. She made it a note to sit him down later to fully explain why. “When I’m ready.”
