Location → Cornucopia.

She felt Phox's rapid heartbeat flicker away almost instantaneously when she removed her knives from his face.  He was a gruesome sight, but Nike just looked at him with a small smile on her face. ``Even though you're dead," she bent down, running her finger over the gaping wound on the right side of Phox's mangled cheek. ``At least you're still smiling," she bit her lower lip and stifled another laugh, wiping the bit of blood off of her index finger on Phox's jacket.

Finally, in a moment where she wasn't running for her life or having to watch every move of her cohorts, she was finally alone.  As she raided through Phox's bag, adding all of its contents to her own, she did her best to channel her adrenaline out of her body.  She was feeling her body becoming increasingly weak as the granola and fruit bars weren't completely sustaining.  Sucking on rocks to increase salivation, a survival tactic she had learned when water was scarce, was getting tiring.

She was starting to face a dilemma: expend more energy to find sustenance, or continue to move slowly to preserve what little energy she had.  These sudden bursts of energy, like slaying Phox and running from the fire creature, were taxing on her thirteen-year old body.  She would have to discuss with Glitter and Wes what they wanted to do, perhaps their input would help her decide what was her best option.

Before crossing the eerily quiet Cornucopia to where she saw the other two careers run, she reached into her bag and removed the small tube of rubbing alcohol  applied it to her wound that she sustained during the fight with Phox.  It stung like hell, but Nike kept a straight face as she pressed her small hands onto her coat upon it to stop blood flow, if any.  She then proceeded to collect the knives that she had expended during the fight, returning her knife count to4.

With the aid of her night vision goggles, it didn't take too long to find Glitter, who was still in the area.  But what of Wes?  Had he decided to jump ship? ``WES!  WHERE ARE YOU?" she shouted with her higher-pitched voice.  With no immediate reply, she focused on Glitter standing before the body of a tribute.  After hearing three cannon shots right in a row, she assumed that they were responsible for the three booms in the sky.

Time frame → Day #2 of the Arena.

Location → Cornucopia.

Spare one night of staying up excessively late due to an elevator incident during one of the evenings of training, Nike was very good about going to bed early and waking up early as well. That being said, although there was no major source of illumination in the area, her circadian rhythm told her that she had enough sleep.

She rubbed her eyes and rose up to her feet, beginning a few simple stretches to get the blood circulating through her body once more. She did these in haste, knowing that she would be beside herself if someone, god forbid, had gotten the one-up on her.

She folded the blanket neatly and clutched it close to her before rounding around the corner to see the three other tributes in her party dozing. How easy it would have been for the girl to do all three of them in right now. She would be lying to herself if she didn't have think about it for a moment. With more than half the remaining tributes still alive though, and a ton of items to carry, she acknowledged their continued importance.

Enabling the use of the low-quality night vision goggles once more, she began to look through the bags for some sort of assistance in lighting. To her joy, she found two items of interest: a pair of high-quality night vision goggles and a flash light. She returned the blanket she had used for the night into the bag along with the low-quality pair of goggles. With a flick of a switch, she had light. It was awfully bright, probably because they were blanketed so heavily in darkness.

A scan of the area showed the bloody remains of yesterday's battle. The air was starting to smell rank with death. No doubt Nike enjoyed the kill, but the after-math was nothing to joke around about. Her face warped in disgust in response. It was time to leave and resume the game lest the gamemakers introduce something to get the careers moving a bit.  She wouldn't put it past them to throw a ringer at the strong careers for entertainment.

Location → Cornucopia.

The sounds of cannons firing formed a sort-of sweet melody in the mind of the young woman who had ruthlessly destroyed three tributes (Fen, River, and Leonis) and assisted in the demise of two others (Eta and Athamus).  Her visage seemed completely different as she surveyed the once wild battlefield; Nike was at her prime.  This was the role she was born to play.  Covered in blood from head to toe from her last grizzly confrontation, she meandered slowly about the Cornucopia, snatching her remaining knives off of the ground and stowed them away in her butt pocket. 

As she approached to grab the final knife from Fen, she giggled curtly, a dark grin washing over her girlish features. ``Sorry Fenny, I did give you the choice right off the bat," she spotted a pair of night vision goggles discarded from a bag that he tried to make off with and she tucked them away secretly inside a pocket in her jacket for safe keeping. ``..but you didn't accept my generous offer, and here's where you are," her eyes fell upon Eta who was close by. ``Right by the one youlove," she generated extra mucous in her mouth and spat a wad of spit at Eta's carcass.  She snapped out of her anger quickly, and shouted out to Wes and Glitter.

Time frame → Training Day #2; Morning.

Location → Training Center.

An evening of rest was all that the little girl needed to completely recover from her run with The Gauntlet yesterday afternoon.  She had ran the course at least twenty times, knocking off millisecond by millisecond until her mentor, Delphi, removed her from the course.  Had it been up to Nike, she would've continued to train until her body fell apart; that was what training was to the young woman, as instructed by her father.  Delphi, and the Academy stressed the importance of rest but as she identified more with her father's tutelage, she more often than not chose to train her hardest.

Today felt unusual compared to yesterday.  Nike was no stranger to the watchful eyes of Peacekeepers, but it was quite a bit different when three of them were knocking at her door to escort her to her first training activity of the day.  She didn't question it as she was eager to participate in her forte: the throwing knives.  While not exactly like her beloved hand-scythes, today's exercise would hone in on her accuracy and precision which Nike needed to practice.

Entering the throwing knives area, her eyes glowed in excitement before a long table filled with various throwing knives; some were thick, some were like small needles, each of them deadly in their own right.  She ran to the table and started touching all of them in a frenzy, not even wanting to wait another minute till the other tribute, whoever they were, appeared on the scene.

Her blissful moment was interrupted though as the tell-tale pure white suites of Peacekeepers, about a dozen or so, watched Nike like a hawk, including the three she had entered with.  It only added to the peculiarity of the scene as a whole.  She questioned why there were so many just for her and this other tribute.
