How do you define evil?
āEvil is a buzzword that works up people. It is my opinion that evil is a tool that leaders like Pepper use to get crowds excited, as the word invokes our natural desire to inflict punishment and to invoke a sense of justice. It is my belief that evil exists, but it does not exist in many of the things that we are willing to throw the word at. In my eyes, a person is not and cannot be born evil, nor can they ever becomeĀ evil; it is their deeds and the decisions they choose to make that are evil; it is dictated by the action and the intent behind it. If a person is murdered for assaulting a child, the killer is not evil. If a person is murdered because the killer is simply bored, then I am unable to use any other word.ā
āI suppose the simplisticĀ answer would be that evil is the absence of good. But I hesitate to use that definition to describe any one person, as many do, simply because I find the notion that someone who is classified as evil is incapable of doing a good deed to be wholly fallacious. Take meĀ for example. Iām well-aware that many people use the term evilĀ when describing me, but should we plug in the logic that evil is only the absence of good, then that would be erasure of all of the charity I have and continue to administer: attempting to preserve the planet of Venom, my passion-project of cleaning up the toxic cloud that hangs below the atmosphere and purifying the planetās acidic seas⦠Hell, I even tended to OāDonnellās wound when his eye was unfairly taken from him.ā
āAnd yet despite all these wonderful things Iāve done, I am capable of taking everything from you in a momentās notice. Your eye will be torn from your skull at a whim, I will murder your mother in an explosive accident in a jealous rage and I will take your body from you and experiment on it for fun while you lie awake in agony.ā
āPeople treat the word evil as a be-all and end-all to a person. The term evil often cancels out everything else about them and that is hideously narrow-minded. The word is almost manipulative in that sense.ā
āDangerous, too.āĀ
