SOCIALIZED: Have A Feathered Affair with the GLFDâs Fall Fling
Designed to help Dallas students soar, Trinity River Audubon Centerâs (TRACs) cool educational initiatives are getting a lift with a fall fundraising fete helmed by the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Dallas (GLFD). On a mission to raise $100,000 for the one-of-a-kind organization, the GLFD will host A Feathered Affair on October 19, and weâll tell you how to get on the guest list for the high-flying gala.
Wing your way to A Feathered Affair to support TRAC, the cityâs first LEED Gold-certified project from the Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
GO: To A Feathered Affair on Saturday, October 19, 7 to 11 p.m. Snag individual tickets for the gala online now for $75, or show your support as a sponsor; packages start at $500 and include multiple passes, as well as recognition during the event.
GATHER: At TRAC, 6500 Great Trinity Forest Way, located just south of downtown; the venue was designed by architect Antoine Predock, an AIA Gold Medal Winner, and part of the eventâs proceeds will go toward improving and maintaining unique features like the Outdoor Wildlife Pond in the Children's Discovery Garden.
GREET: A Feathered Affairâs honorary co-chairs including Dr. Dean Chard and his partner, Mr. Richard Lena, and Hon. Veletta Lill and Mr. John Lill; guests will get to know the eveningâs hosts while indulging in delicious do-gooding with farm-to-table hors d'oeuvres by Bolsa Mercado and other local celebrity chefs, award-winning wines, and tasty treats from The Original Cupcakery.
GIVE: In addition to benefiting TRACâs state-of-the-art facility, funds raised through the event will also help power the venueâs science and environmental programs, which benefit more than 22,000 Dallas pre-K-12 students annually by educating Big Dâs brightest on ecosystems, conservation, river geology, and animal adaptation. By making learning a blast for kids, TRACâs hands-on outdoor initiatives have garnered praise for their uniquely effective approach from teachers around the metroplex.
