Tata Ajache

The King gave Tata a house, and other gifts. The most important gift was the title of Djedokkpo. Despite being a queen, Tata still fought in military campaigns and did not retire until 1889 when King Glele died.
Tata was first a servant of one of the female warriors unit. When she got older and stronger she started her training. She fought in the deadliest battle the the Amazons ever fought.
At 10 years old, Tata Ajache was captured and taken to Abomey. As a captive, she belonged to King Glele. She, along with the other captives, were held until a ceremony would decide their fate. Tata was chosen to become a warrior.
After the battle, King Glele noticed Tata and they fell in love. She became pregnant with his child and was told not to tell anyone. She never told anyone and the King rewarded her for her loyalty.
Tata Ajache was born in 1848 in a village near Abeokuta in the Kingdom of Dahomey.
