Women In Leadership
I believe that the best way to educate people about current social topics and issues is through the use of the media. Since peopleâs days are jammed packed with school, jobs, family and friends, there really isnât enough time to get educated about pressing issues. But when these issues are brought to our attention via the media, they are better able to be seen by a wider audience. For example, if it werenât for this class, I would not have knowledge about intricate and specific facets of womenâs leadership issues. Because of Knowledge and Power, I can watch a video such as this one and analyze it with a keener eye.Â
In this video, Jimmy Kimmel has a segment where he has 4 children on his show to talk about how they feel about potentially having a female president. Now despite the overall lighthearted nature of the segment, there is nothing funny about the answers the 2 young boys give. Now in todayâs world many people believe that each generation is becoming more and more accepting of one another. However this isnât as prominent as one would hope. These 2 little boys in the segment believe that women are not capable of being president because they are âtoo girlyâ and not as good as boys. The little girls get mad because they believe that girls can do anything and would make great presidents. This just goes to show that we are no where near the end of the fight for gender equality. These young children are influenced by what they see on TV and hear from their parents so if we want to make a change for the future regarding womenâs leadership, we have to make sure we are changing the minds of the future generations. They are the ones who are going to have to continue to fight.Â
