The boy brightened up at the suggestion, nodding eagerly. Transfigurations was one of his preferred subjects, as he was quite the natural. Unlike most subjects, like Potions, he didnāt have to study for hours to match his brotherās skill level and understanding.
āHave you gotten the needle back into a match yet?ā Eugene inquired, standing up straight and grabbing his bag. He always carried a few useful books and a first-aid kit in his sack, never one for being caught off guard. āI was so close yesterday when she suggested we try it in class. The needle became straw shaped and got this weird in-between color, but it kept a metal texture.ā

Severus was not terrible at Transfiguration by any stretch of the imagination, but Eugene certainly seemed to have a more natural talent for it. He rubbed his arm and gave a sheepish grin.
āIf you mean, did you make a more dangerous match, then yes. It can both burn AND stab you... because itās still every bit as pointy. But the colors are back. Mostly.
