Memory of blood translations.
I’ve been watching a Drakengard 2 playthrough and I can’t stop thinking about Gismor’s broken spine
Lore stuff
You know the infinite time loop theory from Nier? I’ve been researching string theory for a week along with writing down an entire notebook full of stuff for drakengard and nier. I’m working on an entire timeline for how it works and throwing together a cohesive theory on it. It’ll be here when it’s done. Just a taste: What if Gismor didn’t have a pact beast and that’s why it’s not labeled anywhere. What if he was actually the first shade, or following the infinite time-loop theory used information from the Academy (which I’ll refer to as the Ark) to separate his body and soul, therefore making him a shade akin to the Shadowlord?
drakengard 2 is even funnier when you consider that gismor SOMEHOW managed to survive against caim

From the DOD2 Perfect Guide
Translation: General Gismor/Gismor
Images:
Gismor - Armored
Heavy Knights of the Seal Armor
Headshots
"A man who took the place of General Oror, who died three years prior. He became the leader of the Knights of the Seal. He has an unhealthy, obsessive attachment to power/strength, and uses coercive pressure in his tactics with the Knights-- enough to call it "terror policy." Currently his power base remains stable due to his emphasis on power over persona. The knights morals have noticeably begun to fall from this leadership. In addition to being the leader of the Knights, Gismor is also the general and guardian of the district with control of Heavenly Time. Furthermore, due to his pact with a demon, he has become a demon himself who has gained power outside of that of ordinary humans.
The evil/negativity in his heart that made it possible for him to make a pact with such things originates from Gismor's career path. In fact, eighteen years ago he was once a soldier in the Imperial camp. Gismor was discriminated against and persecuted for being a traitor to the world by those around him in the Knights. The pain he endured was more than enough to twist his personality to treating his Knights similarly. Even those who were kind, former Knights such as General Oror have become a subject of immense anger and hatred for him.
As a result, Gismor killed Oror in a scheme, obtaining a position of power as the Commander of the Knights of the Seal. He will eventually perish, cursed by the power he believed in."
Trivia Time!
Its highly theorized that General Gismor's pact beast from Drakengard 2 is a Shade from Nier. There are many design similarities between Gismor and the Shadow Lord. It is also possible that the Unknown are a form of Shade, due to like designs. Did you know in Drakengard 1 Verdelet was originally concepted to be the main villain, and Inuart has going to be the hero? This is proven in the game's in-game cutscenes where Inuart and Verdelet are holding weapons just like all playable characters. Did you know, the Ace Combet series exists in the Drakengard series. In Drakengard 1's final ending, the jet pilot's name is Scarface, a name associated with the protagonists of the Ace Combat series. Upon completing the Tokyo free mission, the red dragon can evolve into a Su-43, a jet the is in Ace Combat 3.
