It shouldnât be a surprise, but the way Teagan celebrated her thirty-sixth birthday is getting an urgent call about one of her patientâs conditions led to her scrubbing in for surgery. Other people wouldâve groaned and complained about how their day wouldâve been ruined, but this had never been the case with her. If anything, the woman hates when the whole world revolves around her or when she receives too much attention due to her heartâs kindness â as it always made her skin crawl in discomfort. She just wants to help people. Be an impact on someoneâs life in ways others could fail. Plus, itâs not like a physical human happened to be waiting for her at home. However, she grew to despise, leaving the dog alone because of the unknown that could linger upon her arrival. But, she could never stay mad at Trixie and all of the things she has torn up throughout the months of them living together. Itâs when she sees her eight-month-old dalmatian look up at her with those chocolate hues and that wide-set smile (just her jaw unhinged); she comes to terms that this is her life for now and she should enjoy it instead of believing sheâll always alone.Â
She wasnât alone. Beside having Trixie, the auburn-haired woman has both of her cousins, always there, and always wanting her around, but the hidden fear of being a burden does exist. Though itâs thoughts that come and go. Itâs when she receives a text from Gigi to come over for a much-needed catch-up as well as a belated birthday celebration; she was happy to spend the evening with her younger cousin. Itâs been all too long plus, if she remembers correctly, the other woman failed to show up at the Gender Reveal â further making this evening necessary. After having a plate full of food, feeling as if she could barely walk or make it outside, the neurosurgeon plops down on the outdoor couch in a laugh. âÂżTratando de engordar?â Questioning with an arched brow and a humored songbird falsetto, the former wiggle room she had in her jeans is now consumed by her food bloating and is digging into her sides. âItâs was a great dinner, sweetie. Thank you for doing this for me.â The appreciative, dimpled beam is sent toward Gigi as her hand gently rests on her cousinâs knee before lifting the recently filled wine glass to her lips. âHow long has it been since Iâve last seen you? A couple of weeks or something?â It comes with a brief pause, backtracking her mind calendar to remember it felt like the last time she had seen her is at the carnival or a short period after. âWhatâs been going on with you?â Â
