N O L O N G E R
she was the girl made up of cumulonimbus clouds, not acid rain. she was supposed to be the one who was always there, like bone marrow for the weak, the fairy godmother for the fairytale. but she was turning into the dragon, the raging fire instead of the wildflower, graffiti that took territories over by it's teeth and bit down with no mercy. she was turning into the devil with a rifle, deadly and broken, willing to do anything to survive.
willing to become another natural disaster, allowing her fingers to become earthquakes, granting access for the tornadoes to spill out of her lungs, letting the storm clouds stay awhile. fueled by gasoline tears and the forest fire in her eyes, she was no longer a girl who just ran with the wolves -- -- in time, she had become one herself.
MY HANDS ARE TAINTED
I let the blood drip from my fingers. It's still warm and sticky. A body lay below me. Not quite dead yet. I know that it's not right. But I couldn't help myself. I felt a rush. I heard a voice. I did the deed. It can't be undone. Or reversed. What's done. Is done. And then I feel this-- sick joy trickle into my brain. A manic laugh erupts from my dry throat. And a sinister smile spreads over my pale face. "Why are you still breathing?" The tune that escaped was meant to be disturbing, but it was rather sweet and carefree. Because I was happy. I felt like I'd put all my pain and sorrow into the person below. And killed my pain. All the pain had escaped me, and I felt perfect. I know they're almost near death. Now, should I just leave them there? or do I finish the job right? My arm reached out to grab their body, and I threw them over my bonny shoulder. The body kept drooping. Swaying back and forth with each step. Until I got to a spot in the woods. Right next the flowers. I let the body drop like a ton of bricks. I can hear no more swift breathing. They're gone. My fingers dig at the earth, until I'm standing in the ground below. Staring at the flowers above. I see their arm, and I grab it. Pulling them into the hole with me. I pull myself from the hole, and then start pouring handfuls of dirt on them. Until it's filled to the very top again. I place a single flower on the top. "Thank you."
GET TO KNOW YOUR CHARACTER
What was your family like?: My parents were wonderful, from what I remember, and they loved me and each other very much. They had to, if they had the tenacity to send me off with the government. I feel bad for not really missing them, but it’s hard to when you don’t know much. Of course I do, it’s just not clawing at my soul every waking minute. It also doesn’t mean I’m not cross with WICKED.
Who was your father, and what was he like?: From what I remember, he was your typical family man, and had a heart of gold. I’m pretty sure he was an Immune, too, but he couldn’t just gotten it after I left, or hid it very well..
Who was your mother, and what was she like?: My mother was a rather quiet person, and she took things very practically. That didn’t mean she wasn’t very fun and/or loving, she just had a simpler way of showing it. I think it was a method to keep The Flare from working too fast on her.
Do you have a nickname?: Sonya. Just Sonya.
What do you look like?: Mid-back length red hair, porcelain skin, willowy frame. Pretty average, if I do say so myself. Nothin’ special.
What were your siblings names? What were they like?: I don’t really remember having any, so I guess not. I’d probably have some recollection if I did, but who knows, with WICKED behind it?
What is your real, birth name?: Sonya, I guess. I was named after the 20th century figure skater, Sonja Henie.
What is your fondest, childhood memory?: I had a dream not too long ago, and I was in the park with my parents as a small child. They each had one of my hands, and would swing me as I laughed my head off, walking down a path. We were happy, I know that for certain.
What is your worst childhood memory?: I don’t really have any that were particularly bad. Not necessarily because my childhood was picture perfect, but because I… I didn’t want them.
Did you ever meet any other family members?: No- not that I know of, at least. They probably all succumbed to the Flare.
What do you do when you are bored?: Hang out with Newt, Mary, Rachel or whoever’s available. I do it anyways, but still. Besides that, I’d have to say just about anything to keep my thoughts from wandering.
GET TO KNOW YOUR CHARACTER
What was your family like?: "I - I don't remember that much about them, to be honest."
Who was your father, and what was he like?: "I can only really remember his voice. It was rough - I've imagined him as this built, scruffy guy that drank scotch all day like it was water."
Who was your mother, and what was she like?: "I think she was soft, but I can't remember her that clearly either."
Do you have a nickname?: "My friends usually call me whatever, but I'm okay with Em or Emmy, I guess."
What do you look like?:" Like I haven't slept in days."
What were your siblings names? What were they like?: " I don't think I had any."
What is your real, birth name?: "Emeline's the name I was left with, so i'm guessing that."
What is your fondest, childhood memory?: "Being with the younger immunes. they always needed so much fussing, I spent most of my time there. Looks like i'm doing the same thing here in Paradise, so no complaints from me."
What is your worst childhood memory?: "The things I don't remember. Like being abandoned by my family, left at the doorstep of danger. Literally."
Did you ever meet any other family members?: "I don't think so."
What do you do when you are bored?: "Listen to people speaking. Seeing how they work, I guess. What angers them, what makes them happy. Makes me think how much humans are such a sensitive and fragile species. It's weird, I don't know."
