Baby Steps : How to be Armed
Okay. So, there's a few things you gotta know before you can go off doing the ol' rooty-tooty-shooty-kablooty. First of all, you have to be over 18 to purchase your own guns. If you're under 18 like me, you're gonna have to raid the gun cabinet. Legally, that is. You wanna purchase sketchy product in an already sketchy environment? Be my guest. But I'm here to tell you how to be safely armed. Not unsafe and without arms. Secondly, you need to research on what is right for your needs. If your main need is home defense, then check your state's laws on home defense and using lethal force [1]. If they're at home, the weapons can be bigger, like shotguns, bolt actions and assault rifles. But for concealed carry? That's a different story. Once again, check your laws on concealed carry [2], and you should be fine. But these guns are usually smaller, meaning most concealed carry weapons are pistols and other handguns. The second, more physical factor, is recoil. I know that AK-47 is really fulfilling your need to resurrect the USSR, but if you're a scrawny short teen like me, dude trust me, you will not be ready for that recoil. If you want to, practice shooting more, because it'll get you adjusted. Start with calibres like .22, .243, .308 and .30-30, then work your way up. Alright! You've (hopefully) learned what you need to know how to choose your gun. Of course, price is a big option, so I'll try and link some cheap stores. x o x o
