weapon;
holokai was never formally trained in combat. it was just something he played with as a boy, and once the calamity was a threat, he would try to self-teach. he didn’t have much time to pin down a suitable teacher before he needed to board vah ruta, as the domain had been in peace ever since the great flood. the zora knew how to fight in theory, yes, but were vastly inexperienced. due to a majority of the domain being underwater, their greatest and often only threat were natural sea predators or the rare sea monster. both could easily be dispatched by archers or simply displaying threatening behavior at them. (i.e. the way betta fish will flare their gills, some zora may possess puffer-like spikes, flashing their claws and teeth, etc)
his weapon of choice is the traditional zora trident, and he wields it with two hands, though in an awkward, inexperienced grip.

nervous habits;
holokai has a habit of pacing when he’s stressed, and biting his nails. his nails are claws, so biting at them has only made them jagged and awkward. though, this has an unintended positive; instead of one point, his claws will develop several as he chips it away. it may not be as precise and deadly as a normal claw, but it still deals enough damage to get the point across.

family;
holokai fell in love at a young age with a childhood friend that eventually became his wife; truly the coveted happily ever after. when vah ruta was constructed, their daughter had been born, and he was forced to leave her and his wife behind to take up his fate. even after his death, he watched over them with love and pride, though when his wife died of her old age, she simply passed on without him. the same happened to his daughter, and all of those thereafter. he simply never saw them again.
his name was eventually forgotten after the abandonment of the sheikah’s technology, and dorephan and sidon took over the monolithic tales of success. he is incredibly proud of his ancestors, even as they erase his name from history.
he has every right to be bitter about it, but maybe things will be better if they never remembered him at all. though he is lonely... he will not seek anyone out unless they approach vah ruta or call upon him. he desperately wants social contact, though is scared to get it.
--he is embarrassed of his failure.
the hero;
this blog acknowledges @khafia as the 10,000 year old hero. the hylian champion was gerudo, against the usual legends, yet holokai never held race against him. when he sees link later on, as the typical hylian knight, he feels an almost nostalgia for the boy in green that ruto had told him about.
no matter who they are, holokai trusts the chosen hero without fail and will do anything in his power to support him.
