She couldn’t remember if she had ever been this nervous meeting Royce for lunch. The closest she could think of was their lunch when she told him she was planning on propose to Yasmin, meaning she was sticking around and any chance that remained of her getting back together with his father was gone. She had been rather grateful when he said lunch was in his office. No public eye, no need to play the image of a perfect family for the public and any possible spying media. Just the two of them, in his office away from everyone. They could be genuine.

“Hi” Amelia smiled, standing in his doorway. She didn’t mean for it to sound so awkward but she was walking on eggshells and she knew it. “Having a good day?”

“ you’re going to make me blush, ” he jokes, patting amelia’s hand lightly as she straightens his jacket. there had been a time where he might have minded such public displays of affection — as a teenager, being dropped off at school for the term readily comes to mind — but he can appreciate it now, the bond that they share. “ no bidding for me tonight. i don’t think i have quite the eye for art that you do. ” 

here, he almost asks an impolite question at his future stepmother’s expense — so what’s-her-name couldn’t make it? or did you finally break it off with her? — but he can see the carefully masked loneliness in his mother’s eyes, and thinks better of the question before it leaves his lips. instead, he asks, “ how are you doing, mama? really. ” and hopes that his sympathy doesn’t come across as pity. 

“Oh I don’t think I have an eye for art, people on the other hand” Amelia commented, moving her hand from his jacket front to give his shoulder a gentle squeeze. “I might have a bid or two up my sleeve. We shall see”

who steals french fries off the other’s plate

they both do. it’s so much as stealing as have a shared buffet. 

who jokingly moves in for the kiss when someone asks if they’re a couple

they both would. probably more royce than kit. both would probably be dramatic and play along.

who has to bust or bail the other out of jail

again, probably both. especially in their younger days when they got into trouble. i don’t see either being in trouble with the law but each would help the other out if they were in trouble. probably the ‘fake call’ on a bad date kind of save. 

who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues

they both would. they both have a history of messy breakups and relationships so they can relate on that. royce is usually the first one he talks to after a date whether it went right or wrong. getting another voice in helps.

who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the other’s eyes

they both would. kit doesn’t play a lot of games but is competitive so he would aim to win.

who immediately calls dibs on the top bunk

i don’t think they would care too much. who’s to say they aren’t sharing one bed.

who starts and who wins the pillow fights

if royce throws anything at kit, he will throw something back. but kit wouldn’t be starting it unless royce says or does something that prompts it. 

who says “your pants would look better on their floor” to the other’s potential crush

yasmin can often get tunnel vision, especially when it comes to her work. she often gets focused on her work to the point that she’ll forget ( or ignore ) anything else going on in her life. she’s become better at getting some work-life balance, but it’s generally something she still works on.

yasmin would never admit it, but she keeps a stash of cadbury chocolates in her desk. there’s something about the british confections that reminds her of home and she often digs in when she’s having a rough day.

no, yasmin does not have any tattoos and she’s not the tattoo type in any capacity. she simply doesn’t see the point in having something permanently put on her body in such a way.

poppy doesn’t have any tattoos and given that she will one day be queen of great britain and the commonwealth, she’ll probably never get a tattoo. it’s nothing that’s ever really occurred to her, though i do think she’d be that person who would get an outline of a poppy either on her wrist or behind her ear if given the opportunity.
