Its my personal opinion that
shez hates the many awful parents in fe3h & few3h more than their kids do

Wow I love when people give their opinion on Rodrigue/Gilbert and it is 95% headcanon or conjecture. It is a general problem of the fe3h fandom as a whole.
People calling Gilbert/Gistave the worst dad ever are wrong
There are SO MANY awful dads in this game. He's by far the least bad. And he doesnt just leave because he hates his family or something. He leaves because he feels immense amounts of guilt and depression about hia failure to protect his king.
Obviously the best solution for him is just to go back to his people and family, who will welcome him back with open arms. But saying that and dismissing his trauma is essentially akin to telling a depressed person to just stop being sad.
Obviously he shouldn't have abandoned Annette and his family. But like... I get why he did it, and he doesnt deserve as much hate as he does.
