“Quédate quieto, Gil!”

“Pues es difícil cuando me sigues jalando el cabello.”

You rolled your eyes at him and smiled a little at the fact he couldn’t even see you do it.

“Ya sé que me pelaste los ojos.”

This pulled a giggle out of you, you couldn’t see his face that clearly but you knew well that he was smiling.

You looked away and went back to focusing on his hair. You ran your hand through his head first before rounding up his hair to make a second small ponytail.

“Qué lindo te ves!”

You squeaked as you admired your work.

“A ver, mírame.”

He pulled away before turning to look at you. You ignored the tint of red that overlapped his cheeks, his eyes darting around your room.

“Me veo lindo?”

You nodded instantly at his question, you tried not to laugh at how flustered he was acting.

“Ahora sí podemos ver la pelí que querías!”

You reminded him of your deal, you saw the slightest bit of excitement pass through him.

“Y me tengo que dejar las colitas?”

“Pues sí, ese era el trato no?”

He sighed begrudgingly before reaching out to grab the remote, changing the tv to that one space movie he’s been wanting to watch.

“De que se trata?”

You ask while pulling up the blanket to cover your legs.

“La verdad no se muy bien, pero hay una roca alien que me llama la atención.”

You shrugged as he pressed play on the movie, you glanced at him for a second only to be met with his eyes looking back at you. You both quickly looked away, he was far more embarrassed than you were.

You went back to focus on the movie, it was far more interesting than you anticipated. If you weren’t so engrossed in it maybe you would’ve noticed the glances Gil kept throwing at you.

It wasn’t long before a sad scene came up and your eyes started to water.

“Vas a llorar?”

Gil whispered teasingly, it was then when you noticed his arm was wrapped around you, you were more disappointed to notice the two pigtails he had were gone.

“Tu no?”

You sniffled lightly before looking up at him. His smile faltered a little when he saw your teary eyes.

“Ah no mames, de verdad?”

“Que no estás viendo lo que pasó? Como no vas a llorar..”

His hand reached up to wipe your eyes lightly before turning back to look at the movie, you did the same.

The movie ended on a rather hopeful note, easing your tears and making you a little less embarrassed to turn and look at Gilberto.

The second you turned to look up at him, you noticed you were both way closer than you last remembered. So close that you could still see every detail on his face despite the limited light in the room.

“Te gusto?”

He broke the silence, his eyes widened slightly when he felt you wrap your arms around him, engulfing him in a hug.

“Creo que fue una de las mejores películas que he visto…”

He slowly returned the hug, you could tell it was done hesitantly but the second they were around you, he didn’t let go.

“Te quiero.”

His words were quiet, you almost flinched when you heard him.

“Como?”

You felt his body turn hot as he processed what he had said. He stuttered nervously while avoiding your gaze.

“Hablas de verdad?”

You pushed up from him, his hands were still firmly around you. You knew him well enough to know his mind was running miles per minute.

“Perdóname- no debí decir eso..”

“Te quiero también, Gil.”

He instantly looked at you when you said that, he furrowed his eyebrows as if he didn’t believe what you said.

“No me mires así.”

You looked away from him but he fought your attention back by saying your name.

“Te puedo besar?”

You pretend to think about it before nodding, he hesitantly leans in but you meet him halfway, returning the kiss.

He was gentle, trying to savor the moment.

The stadium was filled with pre game excitement. People were walking to their seats and bringing food, getting ready for the match.

Even with the ruckus filling the background, you only had one thing on your mind, Gilberto.

He had begged you to come see him and who were you to decline him?

The stadium was confusing and just as you were about to ask someone for help, you got a text from him.

“Todavía no llegas?”

“Acabo de entrar”

You were sure if you could see him, you would see that stupid smile he always has when talking to you.

“Donde andas? Quiero verte antes del juego”

You smiled dumbly at your phone screen as you read his text.

“La neta no se, le iba preguntar a alguien”

“Mejor espérame por el baño, ahorita salgo a verte cuando se vaya la gente”

“Mm está bien”

You couldn’t help but giggle, you looked around you and walked towards the bathroom as he said.

People started leaving and getting in their seats as the match got closer and closer towards the starting time. You fidgeted with your fingers subconsciously and you kept checking your phone, waiting for his text.

Just as you started debating on whether or not you should stay, your screen lit up.

“Ya voy por ti”

You instantly got excited, you looked up from your phone, trying to make out if you saw him anywhere. Before you knew it, you heard someone call out your name from behind you. You turned around and of course, it was him.

“Perdón, te dejé esperando?”

“Sí pero ya que.”

He smiled at your response, looking a little shameful. You both stayed quiet, the chants from the stadium filled the air.

“Esperaba hablar más contigo antes del partido pero el vasco solo me dejó venir si le prometía que fuera rápido.”

You saw the disappointment in his eyes and instantly saw it as a mission to cheer him up.

“No te preocupes, deberías enfocarte en el partido!” You gave him a playful nudge and he instantly lit up again.

“Échale todo eh?”

He instantly nodded at you, you couldn’t help but feel comfort in the moment.

“Entonces ya me voy, vas a ver voy a meter gol pa ti.”

He teased as he started walking off, back into the changing rooms. You watched him closely before having an idea.

“Gil!” You yelled, he instantly turned back to look at you. You rushed after him before getting close to him. You took his shoulders and pulled him close as you gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

That was enough for him to turn red, his cheeks instantly heated up and he looked at you while trying to suppress his shock.

“Suerte!”

He struggled to form words while watching the playfulness in your tone, he nodded at you before speaking.

“Gracias!”

The sun was starting to set, coating the sky in warm hues of pinks and oranges.

Gilberto was right by your side, walking while eating his ice cream. He looked over at you, your mind was clearly elsewhere.

“What’re you thinking about?”

The sound of passing cars filled the empty silence before you looked over at him and shrugged.

“Nothing really, head empty.” He smiled at your response, you could tell he was holding back a giggle.

“What, so you’re laughing at me now?” You smiled back at him, seeing him shake his head.

“I didn’t even laugh.”

“You were about to!” You chuckled while taking a bite of your ice cream, you could see Gilberto’s eyes widen.

“What?”

“You bite ice cream?” He stared down at your teeth for a second before looking back up at you.

“You don’t?” You giggled a bit while still looking up at him.

“How can I? Your teeth don’t hurt or anything?” You could feel the sense of disbelief radiating from him, it only made you giddier. You shook your head at his question, leaving him a little baffled.

You both spent the whole afternoon talking, it was a little weird seeing how you guys never ran out of things to talk about.

The walk to your house felt almost too quick but when you looked away from Gilberto and saw how dark it was outside, reality struck you.

It was almost unbelievable how quickly time ran out when talking to him, thinking about it only made you blush, you were thankful it was dark out.

“Did you like the ice cream?” Gilberto asked, trying to keep the conversation going for a bit longer before you had to leave. You could tell he didn’t want you to go yet.

“Well I finished it, didn’t I?” You grinned at him, he smiled back.

“That doesn’t necessarily mean you liked it. What if you did it to not make me feel bad?” He teased, you only rolled your eyes at his response.

“I liked it, Gilberto.” You said bluntly, he chuckled.

“I liked everything about today.” You spoke in a whisper, barely loud enough for him to hear.

“I’m glad to hear that.” He smiled, you were sure that If it was just a little brighter outside, you could see hints of blush coat his face. He always liked getting complimented by you anyway.

“We’ll hang out again soon, right?” You ask while he walks you to your door. He’s walking slowly, wanting to take as much time as possible.

“Of course, if you want to, we can do anything.”

When you get to the door you turn on your heel to face him.

“I really like being with you Gilberto, I’m glad you’re my boyfriend.”

Before he can say anything, you get up and give him a peck on the lips.

His eyes flutter and you can see his flushed face thanks to the light placed by your front door.

“Text me when you get home.” You smile at him and he nods feverishly.

“Bye Gilberto.”

“Mhm- bye.”

You walk into your house and can’t help but let out a giggle.

Your eyes were blurred from tears welling in your eyes. All you could think about were his words, how much he had told you he loved you only for it to fall apart.

“I just don’t see it working out, long distance is hard.” He spoke like it hurt but you were too far gone to notice.

“I understand.” You lied, you didn’t understand but maybe you were just a naive teenager getting her heart broken by what she thought to be the love of her life.

It had been months since Gilberto broke up with you. You think about it more than you’d like to admit. You understood completely now, especially with Gilberto having to travel so often for matches, it just wouldn’t work out.

That’s why you were oh so confused to see a message from him one random afternoon. You couldn’t lie, your heart skipped a beat when you saw it. You hated yourself for it, months recovering only for one text message to bring all the pain back.

You left him on seen for the rest of the day, you navigated your phone cautiously, not wanting to accidentally click on anything. At first all of your friends told you to ignore him, so that’s what you tried to do.

The days passed with the notification sitting unanswered, your hurt overpowered your curiosity. You stayed strong until you saw that second text message pop up.

You clicked on it subconsciously, like you guys were still together.

You felt regret flood your system, not because you were upset at yourself for clicking on it but because you knew now that you read it you wouldn’t be able to resist him.

In the text he was apologizing, you sighed as you reread it for the fifth time. Your fingers hesitated over the letters as you thought on what to text, you knew at this point you were too far in.

You bit your cheek when you saw the small texting bubble pop up.

You bit your nail in anticipation for what else he was going to say. You suddenly felt your heart beat faster at what he said.

“Please answer. I don’t think I can do much longer without you.”

You tried thinking back on when you broke up, on how hurt you were but it all felt small now that Gilberto was begging for you back.

“Gilberto you broke with me.”

“I know baby and I regret it so much.”

You could already feel the tears start to pack in your eyes at the sound of your old nickname.

You didn’t want to text anymore, you felt like huddling in a blanket and crying yourself to sleep.

It was almost like Gilberto could read your mind, he called you the second you put your phone down, you answered doubtfully.

You could tell he was in his room. There was a small light brightening the room, just enough to see his face clearly.

“Gil-“

“I miss you so much.”

He spoke before you could say anything, you instantly felt your heart drop, you knew you were gone. Your tears fell silently, you didn’t want him to know you were crying.

“I miss you too.”

You could feel the disappointment through the screen when you saw he noticed you were crying.

“Please don’t- I will show up right at your doorstep if that’ll make you feel better.”

All Gilberto needed was a few words and he was out of his house, on the way to yours.

You tried thinking back on the bad moments, you knew you shouldn’t but seeing him begging for you changed something inside of you.

Before you could even think you heard a knock on your door. The moment you opened it you were engulfed in Gilberto’s hug.

The hug brought back memories you had forgotten you had.

The simple smell of him comforted you.

“I won’t leave you again.”

He whispered just loud enough so you could hear. It was a promise.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

He’s very shy showing affection in public, he feels like everyone’s watching him. However, when you're both alone he can get surprisingly clingy. He’s most comfortable holding your hand in public, anything after that gets him a little embarrassed. I do imagine he loves cuddling, especially after a rough match, just for comfort.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

I think he’d be the type of friend you could talk to about mostly everything. He really doesn’t judge so it’s easy to talk to him. I think the friendship would start mostly with you both just talking about random stuff and then it would escalate.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

I think he’s very gentle when it comes to cuddling, I think he prefers to do it when you’re both distracted with something like watching a movie. I think he would prefer being big spoon but if you really want him to, he’ll switch. I also think he likes it a lot when you lay on his chest, it’s just the best way for him to get a full look at you.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

I mean, he’s 17 so I doubt he’s thinking about that yet. It might be one of his goals for later in life though. He’s probably not the best at cooking but he’s decent at cleaning, he just doesn’t do it that often. He’ll try making you food if you ask, just don’t expect anything too extravagant.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

He’d be very gentle, he would try to make it as least hurtful for you. He’s not the type of person to engage in drama so he’d do the best to end it on good terms. I feel he’d probably do it in person to try and talk everything out thoroughly.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Again he’s 17, probably not thinking about getting married anytime soon. However, I do think it would take him a while to fully commit. He just wants to make sure you’re the one, stuff like that takes time. With his busy schedules he probably won’t have time to see you everyday so it might take even longer.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

I wouldn’t say he’s extremely gentle but definitely on the gentler side. I feel he’s pretty tough physically, he trains a lot so he's probably used to falling down/being hit. Mentally I think he’s stronger than most people think but if he’s close to you he’ll feel a lot safer being vulnerable with you.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

He doesn’t do it too much in public unless you’re direct family. He also probably doesn’t enjoy them that much if he’s not familiar with the person. Other than that I feel like he likes them a decent amount.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Again, I feel like it takes him awhile. He wants to make sure you’re the one plus I also feel he would get very embarrassed and shy out from doing it. When he does say it and you reciprocated it he probably feels a lot safer saying it more often.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

I actually think he’d get pretty jealous. I don’t think he’d do anything huge about it but he’ll definitely make it known in someway. It might be how his eyes look at the person or he might even just turn a bit sassy.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

He’s very gentle with you, mostly because he doesn’t want to ruin anything you guys have. I believe he loves giving you forehead kisses. I also think that if you kiss him somewhere, he’d feel the need to kiss you in that same place to make it even. (I actually have a fic based on this?) Anyway I think he’d like to be kissed on his cheek, it makes him blush.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

He’s not too far off from being one so he probably knows how to talk to them. He knows a bit about what’s trending so he can probably make funny conversations with them.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Very lazy, probably cuddling while scrolling through social media. If you guys get hungry he might order food or go out to get some. Either way if neither of you have anything to do you’ll probably stay in bed till midday, especially if he’s tired from practice.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

He’s a nightowl, he might stay up playing a game with you or maybe even just watching a movie until you both doze off. He’ll buy lots of snacks to keep you guys entertained while you do a whole lot of nothing.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

I definitely think he waits, he doesn’t want to get too vulnerable too quickly. I feel like he’ll start revealing stuff once you do because he feels like if you trust him enough to do so then he can do the same. He’ll reveal stuff one at a time, maybe scatter it around conversations if it comes up.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

I think he could get angry quickly but it doesn’t last very long, it’s also probably not that intense. If anything, he probably gets the most angry on the field than anywhere else. If he ever gets mad at you for a stupid reason, he’ll feel really bad and he’ll try to do a lot of stuff to make it up to you.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

I think that at the moment he would forget, especially when he needs to remember it the most. However, he’ll suddenly remember hours later and he’ll get mad at himself for it. Deep down he does remember, it just doesn’t come to him at the right times.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Any moment where you’re both just talking about random stuff. It makes him feel comfortable that you guys don’t need to have a topic of conversation for you guys to just get along. Also I think he loves the moments where you two can just be vulnerable without consequences or judgement.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

I do feel like he’s somewhat protective, especially around his teammates. I think his way of protecting you would be to just walk away or to deescalate as best as possible. He’ll definitely talk bad about it once you’re away though. He doesn’t mind being protected, especially if it’s out of jealousy. That’s probably one of the easiest ways to make him amused.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

As much as he can, he doesn’t want you to think he’s not trying in the relationship. He puts a lot of thought into gifts, he thinks back on stuff you’ve told him about and he tries to base it off that. Same with dates, he goes for something he knows you’ll be excited about. He doesn’t want to take you places/buy you gifts based off of what everyone else is doing.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Overthinking, he’s definitely a little insecure about your relationship at first. This also means he’ll be very jealous at first, once he starts spending longer time with you and his trust grows, it goes down from there.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Not too concerned but if you two go out together he definitely wants to make sure he looks presentable. He doesn’t care much about his looks on the field though, he just wants to look good for you.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Definitely, especially if you’ve been dating for a while. Expect a lot of phone calls and text messages if he’s out on a tournament. He calls you every night to see if you’ve watched his game, plus also just for encouragement from you.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

He’ll send you random pictures of stuff he finds and tell you it reminds him of you. It could be something completely random that you have no correlation to.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Arguing just for fun, I imagine he tries to have a very drama free life and he would like it if you picked arguments just for the fun of it. It would also make him very insecure about your relationship and he just wouldn’t feel comfortable about it.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Night owl, he’s the most online at night. He might be texting or calling you while scrolling through social media or he might just be looking through old photos.
