This titanic beast drifts through circumstellar debris fields, collecting minerals and other nutrients in its trawling apparatus.

I adore the idea of space fauna - creatures that live out all or part of their natural lives off-world, afloat in space. With A Good Haul on its way up, and all the inks for Earthling Stories: Sports Bar completed, I’ve got plenty of excuses to experiment with black and white in space!

While the majority of lifeforms on Lorathel-Gont aren’t any larger than an elephant, the majority of the biomass is contained in about 1000 individuals. The wandering continents are a few species of gigafauna which house large populations of macrosopic organisms on their backs as they walk their routes across Lorathel. The most prevalent species, the Lorathel Atlas Tortoise, similar to terrestrial tortoises but spread over an average of 1 million square kilometers, houses millions of plants and animals on its back.

The Atlas Tortoise occasionally uproots vegetation from Lorathel to eat, but the reason it has survived so long is because of its partially open gastric system and slow metabolism. Species that live on the backs of the Atlas Tortoise and other species of wandering continents instinctively deposit their dead in the pits which lead directly to its stomach, feeding their home.

Album Review: Gigafauna – Frozen Wastes (Self Released)

Gigafauna plays metal. Heavy, dynamic music. Music that thrives in the borderlands between hard rock’s catchier side, and the rhythmic and melodic challenges from metal’s more extreme boundaries.

Their new album, Frozen Wastes will be released on March 27th 2020.

Gigafauna have a lot of heart and soul, that much is clear over their 7-track new album. Distilling their vision into a bunch of songs…

Though the name may seem completely oxymoronic, with “micro” meaning small and giga in this case referring to massive creatures, there is some basis. What regular and Micro Gigafauna share are the ‘Oppenheimer Organ’, or a specialized tissue able to take in and generate energy from radioactive materials safely. 

Gojirasaurus effect on environment: “Living Foodchain” Theory

A) Dead skin, bodily waste and parasites from Gojirasaurus feed smaller animals

B) Larger predatory animals feed on the small animals, generate waste that attracts more

C) Secondary predators follow and feed upon the predatory predatory, occasionally feed Gojirasaurus

D) Primary predators feed upon secondary predators, predatory animals, occasionally feed Gojirasaurus

Though the environment may not be supported for very long (due to cleaned skin/arrival on land), hundreds or even thousands of individual animals can be fed and supported for a short period of time.
