Built in 1761 by John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore, the Dunmore Pineapple is a remarkable example of 18th-century garden architecture. In an era when pineapples were a rare luxury, the fruit became a symbol of status and hospitality. To reflect this, Murray commissioned an ornate stone pineapple to crown his summer retreat, blending classical design with eccentric taste.
