Nothing says nostalgic toy experience like "Some Assembly Required" and an intruction sheet you're going to ignore! The base box forms a big pile of scaffolding and wheels that snaps together surprisingly well.
The result is a mostly solid, nicely sized vehicle for 4" scale figures at less than $2. It's bare-bones and post apocalyptic looking, but it gets the job done, and can hold two figures (but not the ACRM, because Alpha Team 1 discriminates against robots)
Back in the day, weapons and armor was just how you boosted sales on the cheap. It resulted in a lot of fun stuff, and here it returns to help us get a complete play experience in a dollar store.
The extra armor attaches relatively easily, even with my big clumsy fingers, and the result is a much more finished and pretty sweet vehicle. This is definately the way the thing was envisioned, though I'd be interested to see alternate armor sets later.
This really does open up the possibilities of what is viable for toy companies to produce good toys under production limitations. If they can make ACRM sellable at $1.25 then imagine what you could accomplish with something say, 2" tall with 2 or 3 points of articularion.
