April is #autismawareness and I created and designed this very sweet and endearing logo in honour of my eldest, Kai, who was diagnosed at 2. There is no ’level’ or grade of autism, that’s why it‘s ASD-Autism Spectrum Disorder. My son cannot talk, but he understands, quite well in fact, he can’t mimic or learn through osmosis like most neuro-typical kids do, what’s worst is he doesn’t understand danger. If a car came veering towards you, you’d get out of the way; someone with autism may not. They see the car coming but don’t know what to do. Last year, I got the chance to participate in an extraordinary and phenomenal collaboration with backgroundbob. Noah, this fabulous and awesome young artist was sending out backgrounds to artists all over the world to create marvellous pieces of art work!
