The Ghost Tide

Ocean waves are caused by wind moving across the surface of the water. The friction between the air molecules and the water molecules causes energy to be transferred from the wind to the water. This causes waves to form. Jet streams, fast flowing, narrow, meandering air currents in the atmosphere, had a habit of carrying items that had been lost to the waves centuries ago.
So, it was entirely plausible that fateful summer day, when a certain Dr. Ray Stantz would be beach bound, that a large wooden wheel of an old 1700′s British Naval Vessel washed up upon the shores of Coney Island. The iconic Brooklyn beach was one of the best places to get a Nathans famous hotdog and have a little fun From carnival games to amusement park rides, to simply enjoying the sand and waves. But it was not every day such a relic would be found.
She was old to be sure, her dark wood weathered and splintering from years below the deep. It was amazing the wheel was as good of condition as it was.
