Footsteps thumped down the stairs, making Sirius waving with his phone appear.
“Mooooony,” he said, in a tone that only could mean he wanted something while settling down in Remus’ lap. “Love. I need you to do this.”
A video on his phone showed a black haired boy bleaching his hair, before painting it red. In the end result the dye was mostly invisible, except when the hair was moved. The caption said just two words. ‘Ghost roots’.
“Why don’t you do that yourself if you think it’s cool?” He pulled Sirius closer to relieve his knees a little. And maybe also to enjoy a more close up look at his favourite person.
Sirius pouted. “But that won’t have the special invisible effect because I have long hair. And I’m not cutting it!”
“Well, I’m not painting my hair red, darling.”
His love leaned in, discarding his phone in favor of stroking through Remus’ brown hair. “Well, that’s alright. Because I was hoping you’d want to bleach it.”
“Huh?”
“If you’d make the roots blonder–just a little to enhance your own color–it would look almost golden.” Sirius pressed a soft kiss on his forehead. “I actually saw this video yesterday but the idea didn’t leave my head. It’d look so pretty.”
Remus laughed. “Why not just highlight it?”
“Uhh, because this is much cooler?” The following smirk was a clear indicator of his next argument. “And, because I’ll be the only one to see it properly.” At that, he gripped Remus’ hair from the front, a move that would provide an excellent view on potential hair dye. Remus’ head tilted back just the way he liked, making him whimper from the surprise.
“Because some people may know, but I will be the one to come close enough to see it,” whispered Sirius against his bare throat, hot breath fanning against his skin.
“But most importantly,” a trail of kisses over his jawline, “because you’re my light in the dark.”
Their lips slammed together, making thoughts about hair dye disappear for the rest of the evening.
And the next day?
Remus arranged a hairdresser appointment. It was Sirius’ birthday soon anyway.
