After Sam and Tucker ditched Danny for Gregor, he gave up. He had had enough of fighting ghosts and ruining his future.
He knew, as he was not stupid, he had no future. Just look at his school notes, which suffered from all the ghost fighting he did.
Danny chose to abandon everything: his friends, family (not Jazz), and Ghost fights. His parents and the rest of the hunters could barely sleep or do anything due to 24/7 ghost fights.
It was true that he was kidnapped one day after leaving Amity Park, but it was by aliens, so it was cool.
The alien Mongul told him he would fight in his arena like a gladiator, earn respect, and be rich while doing so.
Despite being a prisoner in this warworld, Danny had the time of his life. He met and talked with many aliens and was fighting them. As he could walk freely on the planet and was mostly called for the fights.
He quickly became a Champion in the arena and the Favorite of the Spectators around the Galaxy.
However, everything changed when Mongul brought in a captured Kryptonian into the arena, starting a new life for Danny.
