Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (Gregory Plotkin, 2015)

Had it’s moments, but ultimately this series should have never been a series.  Should have stopped after the first one.

Just watched Paranormal Activity Ghost dimension for the first time, and, well... it wasn’t a bad film. Doesn’t mean that everything was good though. I liked the whole start up around Toby, whatever they were. Little disappointed that they were a demonic prince. Biiiiit over done. Would have liked something original there.

I liked the effects of how they moved and manifested for certain! I love survival horror video games and GOOD ghosty movies, so I’ve seen my fair share of good interpretations and this definitely intrigued me. 

Didn’t like that kid though. Leila. Perhaps this is the novelist in me speaking, but I don’t believe I saw any characterisation in the girl aside from ‘stereotypical possessed child,’ and I’ve seen that way too many times.

The adults, or rather, the father and his brother were interesting characters, sort of, although even they bothered me. The kid goes missing at night, and they run around the house with flashlights, screaming, ‘where is she,’ and NOBODY thinks to check the kid’s room FIRST?! 

Its three in the morning, WHERE DO YOU THINK THEY’LL BE?! DUH!

Note: There have been quiet a few of these but I would like to add my thoughts. I do not intend to copy any ideas (I might not) but sorry in advance if I do. Beware for some hard core nerdiness.

Nuclear fusion.

Okay, so in the main opening theme song it says how his molecules were rearranged and all that jazz. I just finished my nuclear chemistry unit in my science class and have really been thinking.

Extra dimensional elements were fused into Danny’s DNA, which should theoretically form new elements or at least new compounds within his body. My teacher says once nuclear fusion is possible, we will practically have an infinite power source, but we’re not quite there yet. (The Fentons use ectoplasm as an energy source with that one device I can’t name right now). It’s near impossible at the moment because the intense heat and pressure required for nuclear fusion is unsafe to be around. We’d pretty much have to recreate the sun on earth to achieve the specific conditions.

But ectoplasm is from a different dimension, and therefore has different properties. When concentrated ectoplasm bombarded Danny’s system in the portal (chances are the electricity killed him but also jumpstarted his heart, bringing him through the dimension of postmortem and almost making him into a ghost) it fused to certain molecules in his body and completely changed his biological makeup.

There’s also the whole “extra dimensional” thing. I believe that the ghost dimension is like cling wrap on the human dimension. On the same exact spot, yet somehow parallel; they never intersect aside from portals. When someone dies, they “cross over” in between the two in a sense that they have their corpse, and their soul. Ghosts look like their souls or resemble how they died or a personality trait. I think the Ghost Zone is like the Astral Plane. When Danny was made half ghost, he was pretty much fused with both dimensions, almost like the closure on the two parts of a zip-tight bag. His fusion allowed for another hole to be opened up (more so closed up as there is no gap between the dimensions at the portals) through almost a chain reaction (I know chain reactions are with nuclear fission, but it is still relevant).

But whenever Danny goes ghost, he becomes part of the Astral plane, though is still visible in the human dimension and not the ghost one. I think beings must pass through portals until they can be viewed by the other dimension. But whenever a ghost goes intangible, it slips it’s physical mass into another dimension. That’s probably why humans can phase through things in the Ghost Zone.

2015       R      1:32   The Malfarious (Malicious & Nefarious) spirit is back while Uncle Mike comes for a visit during the 2013 holiday season. He finds an old (big ass) home video camera and some tapes in a box of paints.  The camera is an acid trip of blur, color & flares, even with a regular camera if there’s no natural light coming in this would mean there’s some sort of otherworldly…
