House music and mainstream is a theme that needs quite a discussion. Armand Van Helden, for instance, was quite successful about being present on the radio for a while. I mean, he managed to locate the way that ended up having his tunes fill the dancefloors and the upper reaches of the charts at the same time. Then again, why is this surprising? He's one of the better pop craftsmen in the genre of house music, many of his greatest hits work thanks to his instinctive understanding of what functions well in a pop song. I wish he would've turned to that idiom more often, yet I assume he likes being a DJ more, which one can understand – sure, there's a lot of work, but being a pop star is a whole different league.
