Local Funny Guy Arrested After Bringing Home Local Wildlife

He hadn't exactly stopped the little fungus when it followed him through the forest. It seemed smaller than it's friends and wasn't hostile, so he let it just lurk around as he was walking. Cyno had a few tasks which took him out to Gandharva Ville and honestly, the fungi of the area were the least of his worries, one little curious follower didn't bother him in the slightest. It was just a little floating dendro fungus, nothing terrifying. Some of the children were curious about his new friend and none of the adults dared question the General Mahamatra. The little guy didn't mind his jokes either it seemed. It felt good to be appreciated for once! By the time he'd gotten through most of his tasks, the fungus had taken to sitting atop his helmet. Not that Cyno had any immediate desire to brush it off.
The problem came when he had to venture further into the forest, to a section where the rangers wouldn't be for some time yet. The morning patrol had already passed and the afternoon patrol wasn't due for another few hours. That itself wasn't the problem. The problem was that he'd gotten attached. To the fungus. Nothing he'd admit out loud. But the fungus had crept it's little way past his tight defences, into his heart. Which meant he had started talking to it. Calling it a name. Defending it.
Which meant when the hillichurls ambushed him, he had something he needed to worry about protecting. Something… very small and susceptible to his attacks. He'd fought with others before. Fought to protect things before. But nothing so… small and vulnerable to everything he was using against threats. It threw him off significantly. Enough that, though he won, he was injured and limping.
"Well Fundro," he wheezed. "That wasn't my wisest idea, was it."
The little creature hopped. Cyno decided it was expressing worry, so he reached out with a shaking hand pat the thing's head. It wouldn't do to remain out here. The fungus allowed him to scoop it up protectively in one arm as he leaned heavily on his spear with the other. He took a heavy step forward and began to slowly drag himself back in the direction of the village, hoping that Tighnari or Collei wouldn't be too mad… and hoping that no one saw him hugging a fungus protectively.
