Global Game Jam´17 - Part 2 of 4
Here it finally is, the second post about my GGJ â17 experience. It took way too long to post, I have a busy, busy life :) :(. So above are the objects I modelled during the global game jam: -the player character; -the interactable objects; -and the plants. The style of the game was inspired by the game Astroneer and by several low poly artists I found around the web. Keeping everything low poly made texturing and animating easier, but more on that in the next post. Hopefully posting that will not take as long.
Day, dusk and night.
Boulder âwavesâ assets.

Cortex - Cyberpunk FPX game prototype
Studio Kraze participated in the Global Game Jam for the third time recently. This time I teamed up with a coder named Glen Willis and a 3D modeller called Ben Anderson. The theme for this jam was âwavesâ and our game was based around the concept of brainwaves. The result is a prototype called âCortexâ, a cyberpunk first person explorer (FPX or walking simulator).Â
Glen took care of the programming and planned the puzzles. Ben produced all of the 3D art, and I contributed to design, wrote the narrative and of course produced the music and sound fx. The game was produced in Unity 3D.
You can download a slightly updated version for free here:

Another prototype you can find at the Studio Kraze Itch.io website is another game jam prototype called âGHOZZTZâ. I produced this one solo while learning Gamemaker Studio 2 during the Ludum Dare 37 in December. The prototype is really basic with almost all features missing, but Iâve since continued to develop GHOZZTZ and hope to one day release a fully finished version of it.Â
In the meantime, if you want to check out the prototype, you can download it for free here:

My First GGJ
While my holidays were fairly quiet, I did have the privilege of attending Global Game Jam in Melbourne. You can find Nice To Greet You, the game I worked on, here. The theme was âWavesâ. Extra Credits did a wonderful keynote video that is worth a watch, too.
