A very slow, faint dirge of the theme song begins to play.
But the song starts building.
And building.
Until suddenly
It becomes something entirely different
and entirely new.

I was beginning to wonder if they even had parents.
Of all the lies you’ve told, Stan, this one might be the most brazen.
Realization sets in.
Followed by senseless baby rage.
When you mix paranoia, pride, and hubris with a child’s greed, god complex, lack of empathy, and impulsiveness, you get a real slimeball.
Just
Look at their faces
Alright.
Gideon thinks Stan is Stanford.
Bill thinks Stan is Stanford.
The state thinks Stan is Stanford.
The local news thinks Stan is Stanford, which means the townspeople also think that.
Yet at the same time, Bill pulled up the wrong person from his “lots of things” file, and Stan’s license plate suggests his name is Stanley. (Which, if he’s trying to impersonate someone else, is a pretty big oversight on his part.) Those are the only two points suggesting that Stanford and Stan are different people, at least as far as I can recall, and both are easy to overlook and not really ironclad.
Something’s fucky here.

We’ve all been there, Stan.
“Gideon Rises”.
Wow. I don’t really know where to go with this.
That was a very good episode. Sure, I had some nitpicks about the fight scenes but however I may gripe about it, I’m willing to let “it’s a cartoon” be a valid excuse sometimes. That was an emotional ride. Some of the best comedic moments in the series early on, some of the most wrenching gut punches towards the end. Stan is more than he seems, but on his secret desk in the secret basement he keeps a photograph of the twins. He cares, in his own unique way. Dipper is a hero, book or no book. Mabel is resourceful and helpful, even when she’s being scatterbrained. A clear 10/10 for this one.
My dawning realization at the end of this is that everything I’ve seen so far, seven hours of media, is just an extended intro sequence to lead in to what lies in store. I can’t wait.

Yeah, Dipper has abandoned chill.
