So I have this mental block thing regarding food. If the portion size looks too big, I can’t eat it, even if I’m still hungry. Sometimes cutting up the food helps. Like if it’s a big piece of meat. Sometimes I just have to listen to the little voice saying, “That’s too much chicken,” and stop. At least for now. Maybe I can eat more later.
So. Trying to apply this principle to other things. Reading a book that’s really not that long; 180 pages; and I could read that much easy. There have been days where I lay in bed and read 400 pages and do nothing else. But there’s this block sometimes, this voice saying “That’s too much of this book.” Even if I feel like I could read more. That’s too much of that one. So I stop. And I can read more later.
No need to put pressure on myself for things that are supposed to feel good. Whether it’s a meal. Or a book. Or whatever. It’s okay to listen to that voice. It’s okay to stop. I am not lesser for not devouring things whole the way I used to.
