THE HAZINESS OF SLEEP PAIRED UP WITH EXHAUSTION & BEING SICK is nothing short of annoying. the purple haired male hates being an inconvenience, but he knows his body is telling him he needs to stop running & pause. slowly he makes his way towards the front of his house. yoshida is wearing a mask, a tell-tale sign of being sick but he knows his body is burning up & he's been trying to sleep it off most of the day. strands of his dark hair stick to his face as he feels the sweat come & go like a pesky fly telling him his body is fighting. he had read aki's text about an hour ago, but he could feel that he couldn't completely rest until denji comes over. instead he decides to make himself porridge to pass the time between leaden eyes.

the two of them weren't on speaking terms, instead yoshida took denji & put him in an ice bucket to chill. eventually he knows that the pop of the bottle will go off & he will have to confront the fact that he's been putting heavy distance between them. today, he will ignore that or maybe it's the fever making him delirious. he opens the door slowly & he looks at denji who has the face of worry that he's been privy to every now & then.

❛ denji, thanks. you can come in if you like.❜ he knows even sure if the blonde would want his company anyways but he inches towards the shorter boy. the reserves of his strength are waning, a depleted bank account ready to have a balance of zero. arms wrap around him as he buries his face in the crook of denji's neck. ❛ ...you should stay.❜ yoshida remembers that denji's here to drop off his assignments, but he can't think straight. his judgment is a clouded window & he isn't trying to clean it away.

❛ made food, but i have leftovers of your favorite. ❜ he knows he's not likely to eat that since he needs to eat sustain himself with something digestible. yoshida wasn't even purposefully trying to be short with him but knows the way that sleep beckons. there's a faint scent of denji's body was as he closes his eyes. he just knows that this feels a little bit more like home than being by himself, but he won't say that out loud.

The Weight of Power.

Ever since the higher-ups decided to separate him from Suguru, Satoru has felt a growing emptiness, a void that missions and victories can’t fill. The two of them have always been a team—a force of nature that balances each other out. But now, it feels like everything is spiraling out of control.

Gojo has noticed it—the way Suguru’s shoulders carry an invisible weight, the way his eyes have lost their usual spark. He’s thinner, quieter, a shadow of the person he once was. Gojo knows something is wrong but the constant stream of solo missions has kept him from finding out.

When he told him that they have to get used to it, that their skills in battle are different now, that they won’t be at each other’s side as they used to— Satoru is having none of it.

“ Efficient?? This isn’t about efficiency. It’s about control. ”  Bet they’re afraid of what they can do together. There’s no other explanation.

They have been treating him like a tool—a weapon they can wield as they please. Gojo is no fool, he’s always known he’s different, born with power that others could only dream of.

Today he managed to finish his mission earlier. The new burst of motivation has him completing tasks like a machine. That’s what they want, right? Well, unfortunately for them, this machine has free will.

He doesn’t return to the school immediately. They don’t tell him where Suguru’s missions are but that’s not an issue. He can locate him anywhere and everywhere if he wants.

He stares at the dissipating curse, his expression blank. They’re nothing, he thinks, weak, disgusting. A mere nuisance that barely registers against his overwhelming power. He didn’t always think like this, there was a time when he saw curses as a challenge, when every exorcism felt like a test of his skills. It’s all changed now.

“ Yo, Suguru. ” Satoru casually greets, his hands motioning into his jacket’s pockets.

TWO YEARS SINCE HIS LIFE CHANGED & HE MET SUGURU GETO. the two of them were roommates & he had watched as his closest friend had pursued his dreams of wanting to be a tattoo artist. meanwhile, satoru was supplementing his learning as he was poised to take over his family's company. he has everything he could want: the striking good looks, the charms, the confidence to back his words, & money beyond his disposable. he has everything he wants except one person. lips pull into a pout as he wraps his arms around suguru. ❛ suguuuruu,❜ he whines before looking over to see what he's sketching.

satoru had always been enamored by his art. he's not sure if it's the way he draws the lines, or even the shading that makes it feel like he looking at a masterpiece. something about suguru's art pulls forth a sense of emotion in him even though he could give a rat's ass about the world. he was considered a prodigy, his sense of business was second to none, so it was obvious he was take up the mantle of ceo soon. ❛ when are you going to tattoo me? ❜ he inquires. the white haired boy had been serious about getting art done by him. he even went so far as suggested matching tattoos. it was the connection between them he wanted to solidify in a meaning of a tattoo, not to mention the way his heart seems to beat a little faster every time suguru gives him a glance. he could get lost in those amethyst eyes, a beautiful jewel that always tends to carry a sense of ease, a peace that he finds.

❛ i wanna be your first everything, ❜ he declares boldly. there was no shame in his words. maybe he was greedy when it came to suguru, desiring it all when it comes to him. it's why satoru's had not stuck to his playboy ways, in an effort to get suguru to notice him. before he had met suguru, he wouldn't bat an eyelash & discard his one night stands as if they were plastic only to be recycled by different faces. he's sure his best friend could destroy a person's hopes & dreams by rejection alone & that's why he's always scared that suguru would reject him. satoru had never felt more seen, he was a stained glass window with an easy reflection to see. no one had ever made an effort to get to know him behind all the bravado.

how much more obvious can he be? he pulls his lips into a pout, gaze softening hoping that suguru would budge with something.if shoko were here he's certain her eyeballs would fall out from rolling her eyes too much.

"... this is my one lollipop. I'm not sharing."

purple bangs fray into the edges of his vision but he makes the moment to sit down across from him. they aren't equals by any means & he can feel the stares of the rest of the students. there whispers are birds chirping.  ❛ denji, what are you actually looking at?❜ this time a smile threatens the frays of his mouth, he sees the peep of a magazine from the textbook.  ❛ i'll put it in the shredder. ❜

He didn't just—

It’s only fun when he’s doing it.

CYCLES ARE MEANT TO FOLLOW A LINEAR PATH WITH EVERY TIME BEGINNING & ENDING. for yoshida, his life has been nothing but the longevity people boat about in myths, the immortality most people crave. there's a sense of detachment from mortals plight, but he could never fully understand them. at least until he met the blonde he was currently watching. he observes without fail how he tends to the shrine considering yoshida wasn't just any type of kitsune: an inari okami. he is divinity in itself the way his ears & tail are a stark contrast to his hair.

he is revered as a deity, blessings are made as offerings, & a following of the old ways remain. he knows for the most part superstition has faded into the background, but he doesn't mind so much. yoshida didn't need people to believe him his long life should speak for itself.

today yoshida decides he'll be bold introduce himself to denji. it was a promise that fades into an obscure movie that most can't appreciate. dark grey eyes decide he'd like to fixate on the other in person & so he crosses the threshold from the supernatural to the mortal coil. he keeps the mask on but his ears remain, a sign that he is anything but the ordinary. he finishes going through the steps before he approaches the blonde that was doing their cleaning duties.
