so this hotel i'm staying at (for just one night thank fuck) has super modern and convienent contactless check-in, which when translated means that instead of management paying for a person to run the front desk, i get the joy of scouring my emails and texts for check-in info they never actually sent (they did send the bill tho!) and the whole process ended up taking 30mins since i had to call a service rep and fill out the necessary forms on their website via phone. anyway, now i'm standing on my room's patio (which is for some reason carpeted and therefore soaking wet since it rained earlier) watching countless other people drive up, knock futily on the locked front door where they keep the superfluous empty check-in desk, and then stand around for several minutes talking to customer support on their phones. truly a horrifying glimpse of customer experiences to come.
