Raymond "Jerry" Roberts, one of the last members of the elite Bletchley Park code-cracking team that helped swing World War II in favour of the allies, has died aged 93, the Buckinghamshire estate announced. Captain Roberts, who helped crack the German High Command's Tunny code during his time at the legendary unit, died after a short illness. "Jerry came to Bletchley Park straight from university but they were all in unchartered territory. The code-breakers, chief among them mathematical genius Alan Turing, worked alongside mathematicians, linguists and champion chess players, to try and decipher messages sent between Nazi leaders and military chiefs.
