hey dude! any thots on joan of arc on this fine evening?
joan of arc is interesting to me, because i wasn’t raised with her in the way a catholic kid would be. A lot of my connection thru joan is sort of second hand from media? Because I never went to church or CCD, so I only have the more intense remnants of her. Obviously through mcr, but also how women and LGBT people really connected with her (fiona apple, the smiths no one in particular, and of course gerard way). Her androgyny, her ruined childhood and how she held her beliefs and power into death. Being burned for love and gender, being burned BY the people she defended because of something she had no control over. Being a martyr, all of that. Being in the bill and ted movies (gay). I don’t know, its strange to be connected to something so catholic without that actual catholic connection. It’s sort of like angels, I understand them emotionally, but its definitely a different connection than someone raised in or close to the church
