An update on the 1960s Camco 14x10 parade drum.Β I took off all the hardware and stripped off the original lacquer to reveal some beautiful old growth maple. I used some Bon Ami to do some metal cleaning and a rust remover by Whink for the tough stuff. Some of the tension rods were bent so I had to get some new replacements and I am using some thin leather to go between the lugs and the shell to protect the shell from indentations. I stained the shell with special walnut color from Varathane. Next I plan to put on a few coats of tung oil to bring out that beautiful grain, let it cure then seal it with shellac and finish it off with high gloss lacquer. I wanted to stay with the original snare throw but finding a knurled nut near the stock diameter and length hath proved to be futile. Guess I will be going with the @dunnettclassicdrums /@gibraltarhardware remake. #camco #gerogeway #vintagedrums #vintage #georgewaydrums #refurb #chraftsmanship #drums #percussion (at Riverview, Hillsborough County, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqvKBeYAF5A/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wxqmrl8kpdnj
