⢠Stumbling back and falling on your butt in the dirt when he turns and lifts a hand, he looks just as surprised as you feel. Hadnât expected him to just stop short like that, though. âI canât,â he says and his low voice is pained to kill your amusement at his expense. Making you realize that the idea that heâs using a whole other reality that may or may not have life as his inter-dimensional junk drawer is making him really uncomfortable. And he clasps his big hands together as guilt whispers through you. Hadnât meant to make the guy have an existential crisis, but his horror had been kind of funny. Even if now you just feel bad about it, stomach sour. âSorry,â you mumble guiltily and heâs not looking at you. Instead focused on nervously rolling one of his weird fidget toys between his servos.
⢠Normally enjoys hypotheticals. Thought experiments. This particular one is unsettling, though. Self soothing as his servos rub over the familiar shape, heâs afraid to look at you. Afraid youâll start talking again and he doesnât know how to do any of this. How to deal with others. Especially a tiny organic that asks strange, unsettling questions. Squeezing the shape in his hand, he focuses on the sound of his venting, his internal systems humming. âYou can tell me to shut up,â you say and his optics flick to you and away as your shoulders rise and fall in an eerily Cybertronian gesture. âIf Iâm freaking you out or just being annoying. Or if you just donât want to talk to me.â Smoothing a servo over a corner of the block, he shifts on his peds.
⢠âIt was a reasonable question,â he finally mutters, staring fixedly at the little block in his hand as he rocks it back and forth under his servos. Making you think of those prickly, pain fidget toys youâve seen. Things meant to focus you so you can think through the noise around you. Studying him as he plays with the little block and avoids looking at you, that guilt is a living thing twisting through you. You think suddenly of your bully in high school and the savage delight theyâd taken in making you miserable. Is that you now? The bully? Youâd gotten carried away. Had known you were making him uncomfortable and youâd just kept going. Swearing softly as you put your face in your hands, you hear him shift his weight. His shadow falls across you and you reluctantly look up, chin on your arm.
⢠âThereâs a hands-on science center on the outskirts of town if itâs not closed down,â you say suddenly, legs drawn up and cheek on your arm as you watch him. Unsure why youâre telling him this, he waits since that seems to be the safest option. Why did you choose him? Canât you tell somethingâs wrong with him? That he doesnât know how to do this. Any of it. Heâs been told so many times that heâs wrong. Difficult to deal with. Frustrating. If so many have said it, then itâs probably true. So why are you still here? Why havenât you walked away, yet? Youâre frowning and heâs not sure of itâs because of him or not, but he guesses it is. Why are you like this? The words lift up through him from his memory to leave him off balance. âI mean itâs for kids, but I think they have rocks and fossils. You know, science stuff,â you add when heâs silent. Still trying. Why are you still trying? Everyone gives up eventually. Drifts away.
⢠Heâs just staring at you while he rolls that block between his servos. What is he even thinking? Probably wishing heâd never gotten assigned to you. That youâd go away. Inhaling slowly, you force a smile like the silence doesnât bother you. Should be used to it, though. Because youâve always been like this. Awful at making and keeping friends. Itâs usually good for a day or two, maybe a month, but then you forget to pretend to be nice. The mask slips, the real you shows, and then you get left behind. âFossils,â he repeats slowly and you blink. âYeah?â You venture as he finally slowly turns in a circle before easing down across from you. âAnd rocks.â

⢠Fidgeting uncomfortably under your attention, he gestures vaguely. âItâs a form of extra-dimensional storage. Itâs also where the extra mass goes when we mass shift,â he mumbles. Why are you staring at him? Plating ruffling slightly, he really wants to get away suddenly. âWhat would happen if you stuck something alive in there?â You ask and he stares at you. Why would you ask that? âI donât know?â
⢠âSo you guys just chuck stuff into a whole other dimension for storage. Is there anything alive in that other dimension?â Heâs staring at you, but youâre just imagining some weird aliens just living their extra-dimensional, mundane lives when random crap just blips into existence trashing their house. âI donât know,â he says weakly, sounding slightly horrified. Like itâs never occurred to him to think about the possibility.
⢠Is there anything alive in that other dimension? Theyâve use subspace storage for as long as their recorded histories go back. What if there are whole civilizations in that pocket dimension that are getting bombarded with anything they toss into subspace? Making a dismayed noise, he walks away. And youâre following him. What if you say more unsettling things? Glancing at you, he changes direction and you shadow him. âHow has no one ever asked that? You guys are super old, right? I mean, compared to humans.â Youâre still talking. Why are you still talking?
⢠Did you break him? Amused as he makes a funny little noise and starts walking faster, you jog after him. âWhy are you chasing me?â He asks, sounding so bewildered you almost laugh. âI donât know. Why are you running?â You ask and he shoots you a look. But keeps booking it back toward the base. Whatâs his deal? âIf the aliens that may or may not live in that dimension had the ability to do anything about you guys dumping stuff there, they would have by now, right?â You ask, panting to keep up.
⢠âStop talking about it,â he groans, trying very hard and failing to not catalogue every weird object heâs ever tossed into subspace. Because know heâs anxiously imagining aliens judging the things heâs stored in there. âWhy? Itâs cool,â you say, running after him as he heads for the base. No, itâs awful. Traumatizing. Doesnât want to think or talk about it. âWhat if you accidentally pulled one of the aliens out of subspace? Think the air or gravity would insta-kill them?â Why are you like this? âPlease, stop.â

⢠Swatting at mosquitoes, you wish youâd invested in some hiking boots. And bug spray. Maybe a reusable, water bottle. Trudging through the woods after your assigned mech, you make what you hope are appropriately interested noises when he bends to pick up rocks and holds them up to babble about minerals and dirt. Heâs at least happy, though. In his element. You, not so much, your coveralls clinging to your sweaty skin as the bugs try to eat you alive.
⢠Bending to pick up an interesting bit of quartz, he brushes the dirt off and holds it up to the light to see the way it sparkles. And despite your smiling and nodding, you seem distracted. Out of breath, as well. Subspacing the rock, he tries to figure you out. Maybe heâs wrong, but you donât seem to be enjoying this even though it has been your idea. Heâs never been good at reading people, though. Especially aliens. Thereâs still the problem of you wanting to wash him, too. Just thinking about an intimacy like that, someone touching him all over, leaves him deeply uncomfortable.
⢠Giving up and unzipping the top half of your coveralls, you wiggle your arms out of the sleeves and let it hang around your waist. Have you ever sweated so much? Youâre pretty sure the answer is no. Why do people enjoy this? Slapping a mosquito as you trudge through brambles and weeds, your neck cranes to stare up at the sun filtering through the leaves. How can it still be so miserably hot in the shade? âAh, look,â he says as he holds up another rock.
⢠âCool,â you mumble and his attention dips back to the mostly round rock in his hands. Servos shifting on it to exert pressure, digging in until it cracks and you frown. âYou broke it?â You ask and his servos open. Sorting through the broken pieces of the geode, he selects one and holds it out. âOh, itâs a geode.â And it would have been better to use tools. To make a cleaner break in the stone. But youâre almost smiling as you turn the broken piece over and then hold it up to the light.
⢠It looked just like any other rock to you. Nothing special. On the inside, though, it glitters with tiny crystals. Youâd never have picked up a rock like that. Never have guessed what might be inside. When you try to hand the shard back, the big mech retreats a step, optics flitting from you to the rock as the sun through the leaves spots him in shadow. âItâs yours. I have more,â he says, a servo touching the rest of the broken geode cradled in his other hand, stirring the pieces about. And youâre aware that heâs given you the biggest piece of it, youâre just not sure why. Watching him make it disappear into thin air, you pocket your piece. âWhen you do that, where does it go?â You ask because youâve seen them do that before and itâs bugged you. Alien magic even though it must be science, but if you canât understand how they do it, it may as well be magic.
Hello revel! I hope you are well. So far the pursue of collage is trying to maul me BUT thatâs not why Iâm here!
Itâs is a harsh world! Take him and he shall lift your spirits!

⢠And you have no idea what heâs thinking as he stares at the thing in his hand, playing with his alien fidget toy as the silence stretches between you both. âDo you like Earth?â You try and he makes a soft noise, servos plucking at the weird, little cube. âI like the geological diversity of this world,â he finally murmurs and you keep your smile firmly in place. âYou mean rocks?â Head turning to look in your general direction even as his optics actively avoid eye contact, his head barely moves in a nod. You can work with that.
⢠Rocks is an over simplification, but he supposes itâs not untrue. He does like them. Theyâre easier to figure out than living beings, anyway. They donât do strange things that he has trouble understanding. But then, heâs always had trouble understanding others. Their tones, their motivations, and how they feel escape him sometimes until he feels lost, like everyone else speaks a language he canât parse. âI could bring you earth rocks if you let me wash you,â you add and he hesitates. Why are you so set on him? So used to people asking whatâs wrong with him, that he doesnât know how to respond to someone that apparently doesnât care that heâs not right.
⢠Heâs not immediately saying no, so maybe bribery can get you somewhere with him. And itâs not like rocks are hard to come by. âI promise not to actually touch you. Hey, I can probably get one of those telescoping wash brushes,â you say, miming scrubbing him with one. âI could stand a few feet away and wash you that way.â Itâs not like they said how you had to wash him, so as long as it gets done, you get paid. âWell?â You prompt when he almost looks at you before his attention is back on his fidget toy. Maybe heâs just painfully awkward? This conversation definitely is.
⢠What about him is it that makes you want to court him? Doesnât want a conjunx, can barely tolerate someone touching him. Likes quiet, to work lost in his own little world. And heâs only going to disappoint you. âIâm afraid that I canât be what you want me to be,â he says, afraid to meet your eyes. Because youâre going to be upset with him and it leaves him anxious, wanting to get away. âWhat, we canât be friends?â You ask and he goes still. Youâre not courting him?
⢠âFriends?â He repeats slowly and you cross your arms as you shrug. âWell, yeah. I thought we could form a rockhounding club,â you lie, not at all sure thatâs even the right term. âGo out and collect interesting rocks? Talk about geology.â All that boring stuff. Because to not have to pay back your sign-on bonus, youâll absolutely pretend to care about rocks and dirt if it makes him happy and keeps you employed. Donât hobby places usually sell rocks, too? They canât be that expensive and shiny bits of quartz and semiprecious rocks arenât too high a cost to keep this job and its benefits. âAh,â he murmurs uncertainly, but heâs listening at least and you smile.

⢠Glancing over your shoulder at the little mech toddling after you, arms slightly out from his frame as he follows you through the tall grass, you smile faintly. Because this size? Heâs stinking adorable. Even if he still wonât allow you to carry him, uncomfortable with being touched. âTa da. Rocks,â you say, gesturing at the water and the river worn stones. And heâs walking past you, peds dipping into water youâre pretty sure is ice cold. âCareful,â you mumble, hoping you wonât have to go in after him if he falls in.
⢠âMostly sedimentary,â he mutters, bending to pick one up, servos tracing over the smooth surface. âLimestone. Ah, granite,â he adds, bending to pick up another and he holds it up in the sun. Doubts theyâll look like much when theyâre dry, but theyâre lovely when still wet. Glancing over at you as you tip your face up toward the sun, he clears his vents. Doubting youâre interested. Most arenât. And you look more alien than normal limned in sunlight. Almost fragile.
⢠Reaching into your backpack, you pull out the little plastic bag of colorful rocks that came in the rock tumbling refill kit, genuine gemstones guaranteed, that you found and you ease down to sit by where your tiny assigned mech is digging in the shallows of the river. And his head turns to look questioningly up at you making you wonder if he wouldnât prefer you to leave him alone. Has to realize how vulnerable he is this size, though. Or maybe he really doesnât. Seems to be in his own world most of the time.
⢠âI have something for you,â you call out and he rumbles, bending to pick up another stone with a fossil inclusion. And you lean to dump out a little pile of colorful rocks. Curious, he wades out of the shallow water to see what you have. âI saw these and thought you might like them,â you say, one shoulder lifting in a shrug as he crouches and begins sorting through the pile. Surprised youâd bothered at all to bring him a gift. Are you friends now? Heâs not really sure. Not really good at this sort of thing.
⢠âWet this one,â he says, holding it up and you blink. Because he never asks you to do anything. Except not to touch him directly. Reaching and careful to not brush his servos with your fingers, you take the dull purple and white rock. Scooting close to the water, you lean and dunk the stone. Before holding it up in the light. âBanded amethyst,â he murmurs as you turn it over. âItâs pretty,â you say, surprised. âYes,â he agrees but when you look over at him, heâs staring at you not the rock, head tipped slightly before he resumes digging through the pile and telling you about them.
Because of your wonderful stories and just you being you in general it inspired me to start sketching again. So I wanted to offer up some Geomotus to thank you! :D

⢠âAh thatâs quartz,â he says, leaning down slightly when you hold up the rock youâd found. Feel like a kid running to find treasures to offer to the mech. âItâs a tectosilicate and the colors are due to impurities.â Thatâs officially the most words youâve heard from the reserved and skittish bot and you smile. Still canât actually wash him since he shies away, obviously uncomfortable, but getting him to talk at all is a win. Every subject youâd tried in an effort to draw him into conversation had just left him flustered and anxious until heâd hesitantly admitted that he liked rocks.
⢠âI thought quartz was always kind of a whitish color,â you say and he shakes his head. Reaching to take the tiny rock from you, he hesitates realizing heâd end up touching your palm. Dismayed, he clears his vents and you slowly bend to put the rock down near his ped before walking away to look for more. Not upset that he doesnât want to touch or be touched. Youâd brought him here, a wooded area just outside the base with a river nearby with rocks everywhere. Doesnât really understand why youâre being so patient with him. Why you donât get aggravated with him when most do. Quickly.
⢠Wandering down to the river, you can see plenty of water worn, smooth rocks in the shallow water. The cold water. Inhaling slowly and reminding yourself that you need to win him over and the way to his alien heart or whatever these guys have seems to be rocks. So you toe off your shoes, stuff your socks inside them, and roll up your coverall legs to your knees. Shuddering as soon as you step into the chilly water, goosebumps lift along your arms. Bending to pick up a promising looking rock, you hear a branch crack from the opposite bank and look up. And freeze.
⢠Turning over the piece of quartz to see how the light catches on it, he fumbles and drops it when he hears voices rising belligerently. Anxiously turning toward the river, he sees a couple of other humans running toward you from the other bank and you fall in the water trying to run away. Not friends apparently. Isnât sure what theyâre calling you, but youâre obviously trying to get away from them as you scramble for him. Rocking slightly, he groans and starts toward the river, rumbling anxiously when one of them grabs your arm and you rear back, fighting.
⢠What are protestors doing down here? Snooping? Struggling to get away as one of them laughs and tries to drag you to his buddy, you swear at him as he says theyâd caught an alien fucker. Heart racing, you smack at your captor, kicking and yelling. âStop. You stop that.â Startled by the sound of Geomotusâs less than certain voice, you fall on your butt in the water again when you suddenly get released, both of the protestors backing away hurriedly and you realize Geomotus had wandered down and accidentally scared them off. Because youâre an easy target, but full size Cybertronians not so much. Picking yourself up, you notice he looks as relieved as you feel. That he probably really didnât want to have to interfere, but heâd started into the water like he was going to anyway. Your reluctant and socially awkward knight in dusty armor. âAre you hurt?â He asks, a big hand reaching for you, hesitating. Wanting to help and struggling. âIâm fine,â You reassure him, struggling out of the water on your own. Heâd tried, though. Came for you even though he didnât want to get involved.
Hey Revel! How are you doing and happy (late) Valentineâs Day!
I wanted to ask just in general if you think Geomotus would be a part of the soft Au. I do understand if you only do mecha that we know have left during the war or if you donât think Geo would even like being touched long enough to be cleaned.
I just know that with how much he likes working among rocks that his plating would accumulate dust or even get little pebbles stuck in transformation seams that would irritate him. (Sorry if Iâm thinkin too much about this)
But have a good evening/day!
Iâm sure he does need some help, though it might take a bit to build up to him being comfortable enough to let his caretaker touch him to wash him
I have a few storylines that are platonic. Geomotus, the Vehicons, the Nemesis, Stealth Bomber Megatron, and Sky Lynx (but definitely not the TFP version of him).

⢠When youâd been told heâd made his last caretaker cry, youâd been expecting this Geomotus to be a big, scary, violent Cybertronian. Instead, this guy is just nervously playing with some kind of fidget toy in his hands and looking anywhere but at you. Canât tell if thatâs his actual paint color or dirt, either. When you take a step his way, he pointedly sidesteps. Maybe he doesnât like humans? Know some of them donât, but it also seems like youâre making him nervous. âGeomotus, right? Itâs nice to meet you, sir.â
⢠Smoothing his servos over the edges of the dodecahedron in his hand, counting the sides keeps him calm. Mostly. Because youâre talking to him, staring at him. Making him uncomfortable by forcing him to interact when he really doesnât want to. Just wanted to study the geology of this world, but then the humans had sent him one of their own. Whoâd wanted to touch him even though they were a stranger. âIâm sorry to waste your time, but I donât require your services.â Handles his own maintenance and washing just fine. Needs his routines and rituals, not new things he doesnât understand.
⢠Uh huh. Thatâs not cutting it, because youâre being paid to play nice and get on his good side. Wash him, bring him energon. Basically ingratiate yourself to this giant in the hopes that they might think twice before starting up their war again and leveling another city. Except, youâre pretty sure this one isnât doing any rampaging. âMy services? I just want to be your friend,â you lie affecting a hurt tone and he still wonât look directly at you. âYou know, take care of you. Youâre pretty dusty. Must be uncomfortable.â
⢠Truthfully, it is unpleasant when dirt and gravel get under his plating. The grit rubbing uncomfortably against his mesh. Risking a glance at you, he looks away again, because youâre making an unsettling amount of direct optic contact. âWould you like me to wash it off?â You ask when he doesnât answer, reaching for him. And he moves back, frustrated. âI donât like being touched,â he admits and you frown slightly.
⢠âOkay,â you say, trying to figure out how to wash a bot that has an issue with being handled. Though, maybe he just has a problem with humans touching him. âI could spray you off then? Get the dust off?â And heâs just fidgeting with that thing in his hands, nervously turning it over and over. âOr we could just talk?â Heâs not at all what youâd expected. More skittish kitten than standoffish as far as you can tell. Actually seems afraid of you. âDo you want to talk?â
