Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Chat, are we cooked? Not if we're a yellow chat! Although they can be found in marshlands, these birds have several special adaptations that allow them to thrive in more arid environments. They have a much slower metabolism compared to other passerine birds, which means they lose less water to evaporation in the heat of the day. As members of the honeyeater family, they also have special brush-tipped tongues which they use to collect dew from the surfaces of plants.
