Water, Earth, and of course, Air. Colette was told she had mastered these three elements. Air had come naturally to her as her native element. She had always felt connected to the breeze all around her, always been aware of the breath moving in and out of the lungs of those around her.
But Water and Earth? Colette suspected her masters simply wanted to be rid of her. These elements seemed to have a mind of their own in her hands. She hardly felt confident with these two and now they wanted her to âmasterâ fire. She was sure something would end up in flames.
But she really had no choice. With the unusually high amount of aggressive Spirit activity occurring all over the world, Colette needed to master being an Avatar immediately. Her duty kept her going, despite the fact that she knew the reincarnation cycle had chosen the wrong bender.
âAvatar, we have arrived,â the woman attending her on the boat said gently. Colette was shook from her thoughts as she looked out at the Fire Nation dock before her. Colette smiled at the woman as she began to descend to the dock. On the boat, Colette realised very quickly how warm it was in the Fire Nation. Braiding her hair and trading for cooler clothes seemed to work for the most part.
People had started to stare as Colette continued from the dock toward the market. Oh no.. She hoped they werenât putting two and two together.. The world knew the Avatar was traveling to train in the elements. She had grown her bangs back to hide her tattoos - so much attention overwhelmed her.
Colette was so wrapped up in her thoughts and so busy trying to rush through that she failed to watch where she was going. The young Avatar slammed into someone heading toward her.
âOof,â the little sound escaped her as she fell back onto the ground.
âAh! Iâm so sorry!â she exclaimed as she looked up at her assaultee. The boy seemed close in age to her. She felt better since it wasnât an elderly person. Wind pushed her back up onto her feet. âPlease forgive me.. are you hurt? Oh Iâm so sorryâŚâ
