ใปX ใฏ Y ใงใ acts as a kind of formula for a lot of the basic Japanese sentence structure. ใโข X = the topic of the sentence. ใโข ใฏ = when used in a topic position of any sentences, ใฏ is a particle that acts as a flag, or marks the topic of a sentence.
ex) โmy cat is little.โ my cat is the topic of the sentence, in Japanese you would say; โๅใฎใญใใฏใกใใใงใใโ ๅใฎใญใ is marked by ใฏ, making it the topic of the sentence, what the sentence is about.
ใโข Y = something about the topic, or what the topic is. ใโข ใงใ = it is.
ex) in โๅใฎใญใใฏใกใใใงใใโ or, โmy cat is small.โ we already know that โๅใฎใญใใฏโ is the topic of the sentence, because it is marked by ใฏ. but, what about my cat? why are we talking about my cat? he is small; โใกใใใงใใโ
