OK, just so we’re clear...
✨ The runestones are not terrible, explosive, or dangerous.
✨ They are made from quartz rock taken from the heart of Deepholm, which means that they are made of a material with self-sustaining power and magic.
✨ Ley and Zad figured they could overload the runes. They can’t. No mere mortal can, because they are not ordinary runes on ordinary stone.
✨ Only a “phenomenally powerful asshole” such as a Legion lord (like a Nathrezim) or a paragon of the Old Gods would have such power to overload the runestones.
✨ The powerful asshole would also have no power to do this from the outside, it would have to be an inside job - like Kil’jaeden entering Quel’thalas through the Sunwell with Kael’thas’ help, despite the runestone monoliths protecting Quel’thalas from the Legion.
✨ The powerful asshole would have to become familiar with the flows of magic and energy, and the runestones themselves, from within Sunspire to achieve this.
✨ Kurel has issues. Lots of issues. And the kind of power it would take to overload and destroy the stones!
✨ And he’s most certainly familiar with Sunspire’s energy, consciously or not.
✨ For Kurel’s sake only did Aranya agree that moving the stones was wise. If Kurel didn’t have his problems, she’d stand right next to him and Blaque and all three of them would say “Fuck that.” Life would carry on in Sunspire as normal.
✨ Aranya is now finding a new magical defense and cloak for Sunspire, one that Kurel is not in danger of breaking on a disaster scale.
