A FEW MIXED MEDICAL NOTES ON MY OCS !
they have a very high pain tolerance. actually , not as much high TOLERANCE , as they struggle to process pain ( it’s linked to their autism ). when in a great deal of pain , aislinn struggles to express it & struggles to explain or sometimes figure out exactly what the sensation is. they will often just shut down & go completely quiet —— for example , the last time aislinn broke their arm it was crashing on their roller - blades. for a really long time they just sat in the road rocking back & forth and holding their arm , crying but not making any noise or talking. it took a little while before they would even point or shake / nod their head in response to questions about the pain.
with asta’s epilepsy ( which i’ve mostly talked about all the important info in this post ) she very rarely feels it coming , so struggles to prevent seizures once she’s exposed to a trigger. only maybe 10 or 15% of the time does she get any kind of aura before the seizure comes on. also her seizures vary massively in severity , partly because she’s stubborn and very rarely takes her medication. it can be anything from an ABSENCE SEIZURE of just a few seconds that she barely notices , to the full - on , shaking , unconscious type.
genie isn’t diagnosed with any medical conditions other than synesthesia ( and , obviously , her variety of superpowers ) but HAS experienced seizures a handful of times. they’ve normally been pretty severe —— like she’s been unconscious or at least unresponsive for a few minutes or more. she’s been tested for epilepsy & some similar conditions and doesn’t seem to have any —— her doctors have just assumed it’s another side - effect linked to y’know. all the shit they do to her.
