i haven't seen anyone on my dash being shitty about jeremy (maybe i follow all the right people, i avoid drama at all costs) but it's still completely ridiculous to me. did this happen when geoff was on always open and said outright that he was bi-curious and wished he had experimented when he was younger because he felt too old now? why is jeremy saying he might be bi any different to that? or am i just blind to The Discourse? 😅
it didn’t really happen with geoff for several reasons: 1) he’d been fairly open about it in the past so it wasn’t as much of a surprise, 2) he’s older and unmarried which is overall less threatening to hets*, 3) way fewer people watch always open vs minecraft, so it didn’t disseminate as quickly
*(hets think being lgbt is a youth rebellion thing, so they tend to ignore older lgbt people so that their worldview isn’t changed; and hets really like fretting over the spouse of a married bisexual, since they think that bi ppl are inherently incapable of not cheating -- a good bit of the “jeremy was just joking” bs is likely coming from their worry about kat getting her heart broken over jeremy going down on a rockin twink since that’s obviously the first thing you do after realizing you’re bi /s)
